There is an open position at the Institute of Applied Mechanics, Division of Solid Mechanics, at the Clausthal University of Technology for a
(grant for 30 months with the option of an extension).
Within the collaborative research project "One-step production of metal-polymer-metal sandwich structures with fiber reinforcement: experiment, modeling and simulation", which is a cooperation between the divisions of solid mechanics, metal forming and polymer technology, we look for a research assistant (PhD-student) treating the sub-project “Experiments, modeling and simulation of fiber-reinforced polyamide”. The candidate should have a Master degree (or an equivalence) in the areas of Mechanical or Civil Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related studies. Knowledge in the field of computer assisted simulation as well as programming in finite elements are required. Knowledge in Continuum Mechanics is desirable.
The principle tasks are
- Experimental characterization of the thermo-mechanical behavior of PA
- Development of a finite strain constitutive model
- Development of a multiscale formulation of fabrics-reinforced composites and its implementation into a finite element program
- Metal forming simulations of the sandwich structure
We offer the possibility to obtain a doctoral degree. Very good linguistic skills in English are required. German would be very helpful.
The University aims to increase the number of women and asks qualified women to apply for this position.
Please send your application with your CV and certificates in written form or by email until the 30th of June 2017 to:
