We are looking for an advocacy coordinator with a passion for international law, a humanitarian heart and political savvy-ness. The International Advocacy Coordinator (IAC) will lead our international advocacy work towards EU institutions and relevant EU member states in close cooperation with our Palestinian and Israeli Human Rights partners, the ACT EU office in Brussels, and DCA and NCA headquarters in Copenhagen and Oslo.

We are at a crossroads in Palestine and Israel where the importance of promoting respect for international law is more important than ever. So is the importance of promoting a rights-based international policy discourse and engagement. Your contributions will be instrumental in achieving this.

Major Responsibilities:

  • The International Advocacy Coordinator will implement advocacy activities in Europe and Israel/Palestine. This involves planning and executing policy and opinion-maker delegations to Israel/Palestine and lobbying for Palestinian and Israeli civil society organisations in Europe.
  • Support partners’ coordination and implementation of their advocacy and communication strategies at national and international levels.
  • Ensure that the JCPP’s advocacy strategies, messages, statements, letters, proposals, key reports, etc. are of high and consistent quality and according to the agreed-upon narratives.
  • Represent DCA/NCA in external advocacy coordination forums and cultivate strategic relationships with other agencies engaged in advocacy and policy work in/on Palestine.

Key qualifications
We are looking for a robust person with a strong drive, and adaptable to new contexts, a person with exceptional political acumen, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a strong and enduring commitment to work for the protection of human rights and respect for international humanitarian law.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in political or social sciences, journalism, or another relevant field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in advocacy work, including lobbying, policy development, and information provision.
  • Strong understanding of international human rights law and international humanitarian law.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills in English and preferably Danish, including the ability to present complex information succinctly and compellingly.
  • Excellent planning, management, and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in multi-cultural teams.

  • Duration: A two-year contract will initially be offered with possibility of renewal.
  • Contract Type: The contract is on DCA HQ terms This is a full-time position.
  • Frequent travel to Palestine, European capitals, including Copenhagen is expected, 10-13 weeks a year.
  • A competitive salary package including an attractive pension scheme.
  • 30 days of paid annual leave.
  • Starting Date: As soon as possible.
