About the role
As the Recruitment and Cadet Manager, you will lead Maersk’s cadet recruitment and retention efforts in Denmark and South Africa, managing a team of two full-time employees and a student assistant. This is a role where your leadership, strategic mindset, and passion for talent development will ensure Maersk remains a leading name in cultivating exceptional maritime talent.
This role focuses on developing and optimizing programs for attracting and retaining cadets. You will be responsible for fostering a strong cadet culture while driving strategic initiatives that enhance our cadet programs in Denmark and South Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Attraction Strategies: Design and implement recruitment strategies for cadets in Denmark and South Africa, aligning with Maersk's global cadet strategy.
- Manage the Cadet Program: Oversee approximately 400 cadets sponsored by Maersk, guiding them from recruitment to graduation.
- Team Leadership: Provide daily leadership for the Cadet Team in Svendborg, which includes two full-time employees and a student assistant.
- Cadet Culture Development: Drive strategic initiatives that strengthen the cadet culture and ensure retention in Maersk-based programs.
- Program Innovation: Evaluate and enhance cadet-related activities to ensure the Cadet Office remains a competitive advantage.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong relationships with maritime and engineering schools and other internal and external stakeholders.
- South Africa Cadet Program: Develop and oversee the cadet program in South Africa, ensuring it meets Maersk standards and supports uniform training globally.
What are we looking for
- Industry Experience: Background in the maritime industry is a plus, but not required.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead projects, manage teams, and handle stakeholder relationships effectively.
- Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Ability to align operational execution with long-term strategy, backed by strong analytical skills.
- Training Expertise: Knowledge of training and development programs with a focus on talent retention.
- Empathy & Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an empathetic and supportive approach.
- Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and respond quickly to changing priorities.
- Self-Management: Organized, proactive, and capable of driving results independently.
