We are seeking an experienced Operational Risk Manager to join our dynamic team at a multi-jurisdictional bank regulated under both EU (CSSF) and UK frameworks. This role will be fast paced, dynamic and is crucial in managing and mitigating operational risks, with primary focus on Risk & Control Self-Assessment, Third-Party Risk Management, New Product Approval Process, Project & Change Management, and Incident Management and Reporting processes.

About the role
We are looking to hire a skilled Operational Risk Manager, to join our Risk team in either our Luxembourg or Copenhagen office, reporting to the Head of Operational Risk. The Operational Risk Manager will take an active part in developing and maintaining a strong risk management framework within the defined and allocated area of responsibility (e.g. risk & control self-assessment, third-party management, incident management and reporting, project and change management, etc…). You will ensure that the necessary risk training and awareness are provided to the staff, and promote a risk culture throughout Banking Circle, including ensuring staff understanding of regulatory requirements, operational risk considerations and best practices in risk management.

What you will be doing

  • Ensure Banking Circle has processes and methodologies in place for the proper identification, measurement, monitoring, mitigation, management, and reporting of these risks. Be the 2nd LOD driver ensuring that the Framework gets operational and effective, also ensuring that the Framework meets regulatory expectations and is aligned with industry best practice.
  • Facilitate Risk & Control Self-Assessments as appropriate to help 1st LOD to properly document their risks. Challenge 1st LOD and regularly report on the status of the risk, as well as proactively conduct independent assurance activities covering the designated area of responsibility. Highlight shortcomings and actively propose actions for improvement.
  • Oversee and support the Third-Party Management process. Drive the Outsourcing function in accordance with CSSF 22/806 and be responsible for the oversight of risks and documentation related to the arrangements with third parties. In the context of DORA, ICT services knowledge is highly advantageous.
  • Oversee and support the Incident Management process, and ensure necessary actions and additional controls are effectively implemented to avoid reoccurrences. Be responsible for the regulatory reporting of major incidents in accordance with CSSF 21/787, CSSF 24/847, DORA, EPC190-18 and any other applicable regulations.
  • Oversee and support Change Management activities related to the designated area of responsibility by participating in different types of development projects (e.g. geographical expansion and regulatory projects) providing constructive risk advice.
  • Support the implementation and enhancement of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and provide value-adding risk analysis and input the 2nd LOD reporting of the identified risks to both Authorised Management and the Board of Directors

What we are looking for
To be the right candidate for this position, we expect you to have a demonstrated capability from an applicable role where you have a strong background in risk management, having worked in a similar role for 3-5 years, within regulated financial institutions and a deep understanding of regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

Proficiency in data analytics, including SQL, Power BI, and Python.

You possess strong knowledge of the relevant operational risk regulatory requirements (e.g. BCBS, DORA, CSSF 12/552, CSSF 22/806, 21/787, …).
You have extensive knowledge of risk measurement systems and concept, as well as to establish relevant Risk and Internal Control Frameworks.
You own excellent communication skills and ability to interact with stakeholders across different business units, ideally experience with key operational risk functions, including proven track record with Operations, Procurement and Governance functions.

As a person you have the ability to take ownership and assume responsibility, be pro-active, open minded, rigorous, as well as a fast learner with a dynamic personality. You have the ability to work independently, high level of integrity and show courage by not being afraid to speak your mind.
You are flexible and adaptable able to take on unstructured assignments, able to differentiate what is important, develop appropriate action plans and demonstrate ownership. You are able to work under pressure and to provide high quality deliveries within agreed deadlines.

As Banking Circle is an international company it´s a requirement, that you are fluent in English.
