Mainframe Application Performance and Modernization Specialist

We are looking for a dynamic Mainframe Application Performance and Modernization Specialist to join our team as we focus on optimizing and modernizing our mainframe estate, both platform and running applications.

This role is crucial in supporting our development teams to improve current running applications using best practices and data analytics. The ideal candidate is versatile, acting as a specialist and a developer while navigating the boundaries of innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with development teams to enhance and optimise existing applications.
• Utilize best practices and data analytics to identify areas for improvement.
• Serve as a role model and mentor, inspiring developers to adopt better coding practices.
• Employ mainframe tools to detect code ripe for refinement and facilitate code optimization.
• Support mainframe application and infrastructure tuning, a key focus within the team.
• Show curiosity and interest in developing solutions in the Cloud.
• Navigate and innovate within a framework where “the sky is the limit”.

Qualifications:

• Several years of experience in utilizing mainframe tools for code optimization and improvement.
• Strong analytical skills to use data-driven insights for application enhancement.
• Experience as a role model for developers with the ability to inspire teams.
• Working with Cobol or PL1.
• Ability to work independently and proactively, thriving in a “self-going” capacity.
• Strong communication capabilities, enabling the teaching and sharing of insights with others.
• A keen interest in technology and a drive for lifelong learning, particularly regarding Cloud technologies.
