Country Sales Manager - Japan

Gry & Sif is a unique Danish design company that creates colorful, imaginative, handmade products for the home, sold worldwide. The products are handcrafted in Nepal and made from pure natural wool from New Zealand. In 2009, Gry & Sif received Fair Trade certification from the World Fair Trade Organization. The company headquarter is in Denmark.

We are looking for an ambitious Country Sales Manager to build and develop our customer portfolio in the Japanese market. There is significant sales potential in Japan, and the focus will be on retailers, including renowned home and lifestyle stores, where our products are a natural fit.

Gry & Sif has ambitious growth targets, and Japan is a key market with high expectations for expansion. Therefore, we are now seeking a Country Sales Manager to drive sales and establish a strong foothold in the market. You will be responsible for building the entire commercial market in Japan, laying the foundation for growth and long-term success.

Gry & Sif has peak seasons around Christmas and Easter but also offers products that sell year-round.

Your new job!
Success in Japan will depend on your ability to open doors, sell, negotiate at retail HQ level, and, most importantly, establish and maintain strong customer relationships. Your primary focus will be on new business development, with a longer-term transition into key account management - initially, the role will be 100% new business. Your goal is to ensure that Gry & Sif’s products remain top of mind for retailers.

Gry & Sif values long-term, positive partnerships with B2B customers, striving to be recognized as an exciting and trustworthy supplier that supports their sales success. Customers should serve as strong ambassadors for Gry & Sif, helping to maintain brand integrity.

You will focused on and motivated by:

  • New business sales development:
    • Qualifying customers
    • Cold calling and appointment booking
    • Visiting potential clients
    • Proactive canvassing and sales presentations
    • Making offers and closing deals
  • Account Management – As your customer portfolio grows, you will be responsible for expanding and maintaining your existing customers, always aiming for strong sales results for both Gry & Sif and its customers.
  • Building long-term success – You will develop and execute a three-year strategy for Gry & Sif’s presence and growth in Japan.

Before each season, you will execute structured sales efforts to engage all customers. Your customer visits will be carefully planned to maximize efficiency. Data-driven follow-ups will help strengthen relationships and optimizesales, ensuring customers feel valued.

Expect travel throughout Japan in this role, in addition to home-office days. You will also participate in2-6 global/national trade fairs per year.You will work closely with colleagues in sales and delivery, with access to experienced sales professionals for guidance.
