Portfolio Director

Danfoss A/S

Requisition ID: 42915

Job Location(s): Nordborg, DK Kolding, DK

Segment: Danfoss Climate Solutions Segment

Job Function: Project/Program Management

Job Description
As Portfolio Director you will play a leading role in the development and integration of products based on platforms (hardware & software). You’ll drive product success from project initiation through to launch, manage stakeholder communications, oversee budgets, and ensure the evolution of the platform. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic and technically skilled individual with strong and proven project management experience.

In this role you will join Danfoss’ Commercial Compressor Division, a leading manufacturer of compressors and electronic controllers, offering solutions for air conditioning, refrigeration, mobile buses, and heat pumps globally. We specialize in technologies such as fixed-speed scrolls, inverter scroll solutions, reciprocating compressors, and centrifugal oil-free Turbocor® compressors. The division consists of five product lines (business units).

CC – Electronics was established in 2023 and supports all product lines in CC in the transformation from a mechanical to a mechatronic division by driving the electronic product roadmap and the development of electronic products, platforms, and software.

If you can break down complex ideas into actionable steps, communicate effectively, and execute projects to achieve key outcomes and deliver them on time, then you might be the right person for the job.

Job Responsibilities

  • Platform & Project Management: Ensure development aligns with business goals and platform capabilities. Balance short-term project needs with long-term platform integrity, and manage key projects.
  • Financial & Stakeholder Management: Own the project budget, ensure financial oversight, and manage communication with stakeholders, including internal teams, Product Lines (PLs), and external R&D partners.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support the ongoing development of the platform, ensuring it meets evolving business needs and is maintained for long-term scalability.
  • Risk & Business Case Management: Conduct risk assessments, develop business cases for platform projects, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure success.

Background & Skills

  • Project & Technical Expertise: Experience with the Danfoss project model, SAP, Microsoft Office, and strong technical knowledge of platform products.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive teams, collaborate with stakeholders, and manage expectations across functions.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to handle multiple projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • HW/SW Development: Solid experience with R&D electronic development projects (HW & SW), ideally both as an R&D engineer and Project Manager.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to "think Danfoss" by maintaining a broader perspective and aligning decisions with the company strategy.
