Head of Software Development

Are you an experienced leader within software development? Then you might be the new Head of Software Development at VELUX.

VELUX IT & Digital Enablement is a global organisation of more than 200 employees working on enabling VELUX with smooth operations, supporting us to reach our strategic goals and digital ambitions. You will be part of the Digital Delivery organization, heading up the Software Development function which you will lead through a transition to become even better at delivering the solutions needed to meet business priorities.

What you will do
As the new Head of Software Development, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction and goals for the Software Development function, developing and implementing the software development strategy, and managing the software development teams.

Your key responsibilities will include to:

• Develop a clear vision for the software development function and create a strategic plan that outlines goals and initiatives to ensure that software solutions support the organization’s priorities.
• Communicate the function’s strategy to business leaders and align across functions and departments on priorities or dependencies related to projects or initiatives.
• Build, manage, and mentor the software development teams to ensure high performance and promote a culture of continuous improvement within the teams by identifying areas for training or skill enhancement.
• Oversee all software development activities across business functions, ensuring the efficient delivery of high-quality software solutions while making sure projects are delivered on time and within scope and budget constraints.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends in technology advancements related specifically towards improving processes within your department.

You will mainly work from our office in Warsaw or Hørsholm, but you can expect monthly travels depending on location. We work in a hybrid setup utilising available technology to work virtually, which gives the opportunity to occasionally work from home.

Who you are
We are looking for you who have at least 10 years of experience in an IT leadership role from a corporate context. Your experience covers leading transformations as well as guiding teams to deliver complex projects. You have experience as a software developer which provides you with insights into the operational practices and nuances of the field, including cloud development methodologies and principles.

The position requires the ability to navigate and prioritise in a changing context ensuring efficient deliveries while keeping a focus on the strategic perspective.

Furthermore, you have:

• In-depth knowledge of digital development methodologies, processes, technologies, and best practices.
• Advanced communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at various levels and different backgrounds.
• The ability to think strategically and align initiatives with organizational goals​.
• Problem-solving abilities and focus on and motivation to continuously improve defined processes.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
