We are recruiting for two positions as Research & Innovation Laboratory Managers in WMC division. The job involves managing a cluster of test facilities with a diverse and broad project portfolio, including commercial and research projects.

We are recruiting for two positions as Research & Innovation Laboratory Managers.
The current portfolio of testing facilities in Wind Energy Materials and Components division (WMC) is being reorganised in two clusters: MaterialsLab and ComponentsLab.
- MaterialsLab focuses on composite processing techniques such as infusion and hot press molding; preparation of test specimens, accredited mechanical testing, electron microscopy, sensor instrumentation, and signal analysis. The offering also comprises rain erosion testing.
- ComponentsLab includes full scale structural blade test, structural and mechanical bearings tests, blade manufacturing, superconducting technology and 3D printing. Key focus of ComponentsLab facilities is digital twin development, innovations in testing methods, non-destructive inspection and monitoring, as well as design validation.
The facilities include a broad range of equipment enabling the above listed research areas. Part of the laboratory activities are accredited. Our laboratories deliver both cutting edge research and commercial activities. DTU Wind and Energy Systems is the world leading university department in wind energy. The job
The job involves managing a diverse and broad project portfolio across the Wind turbine Materials and Component division, promote new research connected to the facilities, develop a strategy for the experimental activities, while keeping a holistic view and making sure that we utilize the resources in the best possible way, by making the right prioritization of resources in collaboration with research sections and project managers.
You will report to the Head of Section and you will have the following roles and work tasks:
- Day to day planning and coordination of tasks with the team of technicians and engineers working in the facilities, optimize use of resources
- Strategic planning in collaboration with the head of section for the laboratories supporting cutting edge test and research services, proposing future development of facility and equipment
- Business development aiming at growing the portfolio of services, research users and customers
- Support and contribute to cutting-edge research in materials science, mechanical engineering, and advanced testing methodologies
- Develop work procedures, decision processes and introduce planning/management system in collaboration with the head of section
- Support project managers and customers in defining and designing tests
- Make test budgets and commercial offers
- Be responsible for and implement health & safety procedures, with special focus on ensuring both physical and psychological work environment
- Preparation and implementation of quality and data management procedures to comply with the accreditation (ISO17025)
Our expectations of you
You hold a BSc or higher degree in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering or similar. You have a broad technical and management background with good understanding and/or experience in relevant testing activities. Flexibility and ability to manage a portfolio of complex projects
Furthermore, you have some of the following background and qualifications:
- Experienced in project management in laboratory environment.
- Ability to get your stakeholders onboard, creating a collaborative atmosphere
- Experience with ISO 17025 certification is an advantage
- Scripting skills (MatLab, Python, Labview) and Programming is an advantage
- You are proactive, practical with a can-do attitude and an energy that inspires
- Excellent communication skills. English is the work language
- Experience with having multiple contact points internally and externally and with your assertive and diplomatic personality, you excel at teamwork and managing your stakeholders – even in situations with conflicts and opposing interests
- Solid planning and project management skills and a good ability to oversee and manage large, complex, diverse and strategic projects
You are keen to further develop the collaboration with national and international research institutes and industries through collaborative projects and scientific advice to the wind energy industry.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The position is a full-time position, and the workplace is DTU Risø Campus. The daily working language is English.
