campuses in both Aalborg and Esbjerg, this position is in Aalborg.
The mission is to be world leading in both research and research-based education of the energy engineers of the future. AAU Energy has approx. 300 employees of many nationalities, of which 25 are administrative staff. In addition, AAU Energy constantly has approx. 50-70 guest researchers from around the world.
Research and teaching are in the absolute world elite in the field of energy, and we have extensive and leading workshop and laboratory facilities, where research and innovation are carried out in direct collaboration with industry to a great extent.
The position is offered in relation to the research group"Modern Power Transmission Grids" and the Assistant Professor will be positioned to the section for“Electric Power System and Microgrids(section A)”.
Research areas will be within high voltage engineering, insulation coordination, power system transient analysis, lightning protection, HVDC cable system and general fields in electric power system.
- Strong knowledge in high voltage engineering disciplines such as, electric fields stresses, partial discharges and breakdown in solid and gaseous dielectrics
- Strong knowledge in power system transient disciplines such as, lightning protection, transient overvoltage protection, and insulation coordination
- Skill in commercial power system analysis software, e.g. PSCAD and PowerFactory, and FEM simulation tools, e.g. COMSOL or ANSYS
- Experience in high voltage experiments in laboratory, familiar with HVAC, HVDC, and impulse generation platforms, familiar with electrical apparatus non-destructive tests, e.g. dissipation factor measurement, insulation assessment test and partial discharge detection
- Teaching experience on high voltage engineering courses and laboratory exercises is necessary
- Experience in Master supervision is necessary Parts of teaching must be conducted in Danish language.
Qualification requirements
Appointment as an Assistant Professor presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.
Appointment as an Assistant Professor cannot exceed a period of four years in total in a temporary position(appointment at Assistant Professor level cannot exceed a period of eight years in total in Denmark).

Assessment
The assessment of candidates for the position will be carried out by qualified experts.
Shortlisting will be applied. This means that after the application deadline, the head of the department, with the assistance of the hiring committee, will select the applicants to be assessed. All applicants will be informed whether they have been shortlisted for assessment or not.
Assessed applicants may be invited to a job interview.
When the hiring process is completed, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.
