Your role in our team
As our new Component Engineer, you will become part of our Space business area and work with fascinating products used in exciting and barrier-breaking missions in an extreme environment. The position as Component Engineer is a key position for the Space department, and you will in close cooperation with Project Management, Engineering, Supply Chain and Production secure that we choose the right components for our future products, get them correctly specified and sourced for all our projects.

How you will make a meaningful contribution
Terma Space Electronics is a pioneer in the Danish space industry and has been developing advanced space hardware solutions for more than 50 years. We provide mission critical hardware products for both scientific and commercial satellites.

As Component Engineer you will be involved in the selection of the component types used across the projects together with our Engineers and in dialog with the Suppliers. You will have the responsibility to make the overall forecasts for the components required and to assist our Strategic Purchasers in the procurement process. You will also provide input for our Quality Management with respect to the component specifications and screening and you will participate in the negotiation of the formal approval with our customers. You will take part in our production planning activities where the timely component availability is a key issue.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Key point of contact with suppliers on their roadmaps, new technologies and components
  • Coordinate with the engineering team on the market trends and our own technical needs for future components
  • Create and maintain procurement component specifications
  • Lead the forecasting for strategic procurement of components based on inputs from the on-going projects and sales
  • Coordinate with our Purchasers on the procurement activities
  • Provide input to and assist our Product Assurance Managers in the process of getting components approved by our customers

Bring your world class expertise into play

It is essential for the position that you have an interest in electronics at component level and a broad knowledge of electronic component parts and technologies. Familiarity with the manufacturing processes used in the electronics industry is an advantage as well. Awareness of industry, military and space standards which may be applicable to these components are also preferred.

Your key qualifications include:

  • You could hold an Engineering degree in Electronics Engineering or a similar field of study
  • You have minimum 3 years of experience in either Electronics Manufacturing, Testing or Design or have a commercial background as a Purchaser or FAE with minimum 3 years of experience in EEE parts procurement
  • You are well articulated in writing and speaking, as a minimum in English and preferably also in Danish

As an individual, you must have a very systematic approach and be focused on finding the optimal solutions: technically, financially and with respect to quality requirements. Also, you must be self-motivated and persistent enough to work on very long-term projects with extreme requirements. An important criterion is that you are thorough and critical as we work in a field where errors must be revealed before the product is launched into space.
