Junior Risk Systems Developer, PPA & Energy Trading

European Energy A/S

Do you want to work with the technical landscape surrounding the contracts from our fast-expanding portfolio of wind and solar projects? Would it motivate you to be responsible for expanding and maintaining the data- and codebases supporting trade and price management? Then perhaps you are our new Junior Risk Systems Developer.

Your new team
You will be part of our PPA & Energy Trading team which is responsible for green power sales to energy distributors and corporate off-takers. The team currently consists of ten full-time employees and one student assistant based in our headquarters in Copenhagen.

European Energy is a green energy company in exponential growth. We develop, construct, and operate projects within solar- (PV) and wind farms globally, as well as Power-to-X. Our core values are the foundation of everything we do: In it together, Trust and courage, Ambition, Excitement, Inclusion, and Agility.

European Energy is a dynamic work environment and there will be opportunities to get involved in many areas of the business.

How you will create an impact
Your role will be centred around configuring and maintaining the data landscape relating to prices and trades within European Energy, via our Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) system as well as our new Snowflake environment.

Your workday will largely consist of maintaining and expanding tools and solutions aimed at making price and trade data available to relevant stakeholders in European Energy. You will utilise your tech stack and skills within programming and scripting to boost the automation and quality of regular reporting and analytics in the organization.

Ad hoc tasks and challenges will be part of the role as we explore new market, systems and data providers. Additionally, you should expect regular interaction with internal stakeholders, particularly with our Asset Management, Finance and Analytics departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain our ETRM system.
  • Expand the PPA department’s analytical capabilities via our Snowflake environment.
  • Expand automation, e.g. within reporting and invoice generation, by building solutions on top of data and systems across the organization.
  • Participate in the ongoing process of exploring data- and system providers that help the automation and data management of European Energy.
  • Play a key role in developing the data landscape of the PPA department and European Energy as a whole.

Professional Skills and Competencies

  • You hold a master’s degree or similar in a quantitative or technical field, such as Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or similar.
  • You have a very strong technical literacy and interest and can familiarise yourself with new technical environments with ease.
  • Solid experience with at least one programming language, such as Python, C# or similar.
  • Some experience with SQL and data modelling.
  • Familiarity or experience with APIs.
  • You can build effective, technical solutions to complex problems, both individually and in collaboration with others.
  • Some familiarity with energy markets could be advantageous but is not required.
  • You have full proficiency in English, oral and written.

As a person, you are a self-starter, take initiative, and enjoy working independently with great opportunities for sparring within the team. You are friendly and curious, and you use this to build relationships internally with other departments as well as externally in the energy market.

We offer

  • We offer an opportunity to apply and grow your technical skills by solving a variety of problems in the organization.
  • You will be close to the business and be involved in projects in close collaboration with our Asset Management, Analytics/IT and Finance departments.
  • We have an entrepreneurial approach to our work. In daily life, it means there’s not far from thought to action.
  • You will be part of a truly international company. With 43 nationalities represented, you will hear a lot of different languages working across borders.
