Scandinavian Tobacco Group A/S

GROUP:
Global Operations >>> Technology >>> Data & Insights

REPORTS TO:
Head of Data & Insights

LOCATION:
Hybrid/Remote (Based in country with STG Offices}

POSITION SUMMARY:

Do you want to make a real impact — not just write code, but build something that matters?

As a Data Engineer, you’ll help fuel global transformation; your work will bring clarity to chaos, connecting scattered data into a single source of truth that powers our next generation planning platform, o9.

If you’re driven by purpose, hungry to grow, and excited to see your work make a visible difference, this is where you belong.

As a Data Engineer, you will build and improve data pipelines for the o9 planning tool, ensuring clean, governed, and ready-to-use data from various sources. You’ll also contribute to broader platform development, supporting our data warehouse and other analytics initiatives.

You’ll be part of a global company on a bold data-driven transformation — shifting from gutfeel to insight, from silos to clarity. Your work will help shape how we plan, decide, and act at every level. This isn’t just about building pipelines; it’s about building trust in data, unlocking scale, and enabling smarter decisions across the business. You’ll play a real part in turning data into a true driver of change — and that change starts with you.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Developing and maintaining data pipelines that deliver refined, high-quality data to our o9 planning platform
  • Consolidating and transforming data from multiple internal and external systems for planning and analytics use
  • Supporting and enhancing our data warehouse infrastructure, ensuring consistency and reliability of source data
  • Applying data validation rules, quality checks, and governance standards throughout the pipeline
  • Implementing and maintaining monitoring, alerting, and documentation to ensure system transparency and stability
  • Collaborating with team members and stakeholders to continuously improve workflows, tools, and technical practices

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

A hands-on builder who thrives in a structured but evolving environment, that enjoys making things work — not just once, but reliably, and at scale.

You take pride in delivering clean, maintainable pipelines and are comfortable following guidance, standards, and best practices set by more senior engineers.

You’re curious, eager to learn, and ready to grow your craft by working on real-world data challenges with business impact.

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Solid experience developing data pipelines using modern tools and frameworks
  • Proficiency in T-SQL and scripting languages like Python or PowerShell
  • Hands-on familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Understanding data integration and transformation across varied source systems
  • Basic knowledge of data governance, quality, and security principles
  • A team-oriented mindset with a willingness to collaborate and ask questions
  • Attention to detail and a structured, quality-focused approach to building pipelines
  • Clear communicator who can explain what you're doing and why
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and tools in a dynamic environment
  • Proactive learner who seeks out feedback and improvement opportunities

SUPPLEMENTARY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working with SAP S/4HANA data structures
  • Hands-on experience with o9 Solutions or similar planning platforms
  • Exposure to planning-related use cases like forecasting, supply chain, or finance
  • Familiarity with data warehouse architecture and data modeling concepts
  • Interest in automation, CI/CD pipelines, or infrastructure-as-code for data

OUR VALUES

  • A focused mission: enable smarter planning through trusted data
  • Real impact on business operations, not just behind-the-scenes work
  • A collaborative, learning-focused team environment
  • Modern tools, a cloud-first stack, and a platform that’s always improving
  • Flexibility in how and where you work — remote, hybrid, or onsite
