We are looking for
Temporary lecturer in Interaction Design at the Faculty of culture and society.

Work duties
You will be teaching and leading courses in bachelor-level interaction design courses. This can involve development of course plans, learning resources and conducting examinations and advising students. You will also support industry relations: Plan and execute activities that connect industry with students, for example guest seminars and industry visits The job also includes participating in programme and institutional development activities.

Qualifications
A person who has demonstrated teaching expertise and has been awarded a second-cycle degree or has the corresponding academic competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve, shall be qualified for employment as lecturer.

A teacher at Malmö University is expected to have university teacher training corresponding to at least 15 credits, or corresponding formal university teacher training, which is determined through validation. New staff members lacking this training must, within the scope of their appointment, commence such training within one year of assuming their position.

In addition to formal competence, University employees must possess the personal capacities necessary to perform the duties of the position well and to represent the University in the best possible way.

Specific requirements for this position:

  • Masters education in interaction design, human-computer interaction or similar.
  • English language fluency.
  • Experience in teaching basic interaction design topics in higher education. This includes human-centred design processes, interactivity, sketching and prototyping.
  • Experience in studio-style teaching including coaching and critique of design work.

The following would be of benefit for the position:

  • Experience as course coordinator.
  • Positive student evaluations of teaching skills.
  • Portfolio demonstrating the ability to sketch and prototype modern graphical user interfaces to a professional standard.
  • Portfolio demonstrating proficiency with web technologies (ie. TypeScript/JavaScript, CSS and HTML) and/or microcontroller-based interactivity (eg. Arduino, Micro/CircuitPython, Espruino)
  • Experience in teaching in a variety of courses and roles within interaction design

Assessment criteria
Accordning to the Appointment Rules at Malmö University, the assessment crieteria for a position as Lecturer are:

  • Documented competence in the field
  • Documented ability to collaborate with actors in other parts of society with a clear connection to education and research

Teaching expertise relates to:

  • Documented experience in pedagogical development work and a reflective presentation of their own pedagogical outlook and practices
  • Documented experience in teaching at a high standard
  • Documented ability to link research and education with regards to both content and teaching

Other assessment criteria:
As a person, you are independent, driven, well-organized, communicative and interested in development work in relation to courses, colleagues and the subject. You have your own artistic/illustration activity that you can anchor in teaching. You have a clear pedagogical intent and ability to engage students and colleagues in improving the quality of education. Self-motivated and well-organised, with a curiosity and passion for the topics being taught.

Faculty of Culture and Society
The Faculty of Culture and Society is a multidisciplinary faculty that includes three departments: the Department of Global Political Studies (GPS) the School of Arts and Communication (K3) and the Department of Urban Studies (US). The faculty conducts doctoral studies in the following subjects: Global Politics, Interaction Design, International Migration and Ethnic Relations, Media and Communication Studies, Organisation Studies, and Urban Studies. The School of Arts and Communication
The School of Arts and Communication (K3) has approximately 110 employees and 1,200 students, offering interdisciplinary education at undergraduate, advanced and doctoral level in media, the humanities and design. We are committed to creative, collaborative, and critical research and education with strong public engagement. We combine traditional scientific and academic theory with artistic methods and practice-based work. Our activities take place within three academic environments (Storytelling, Media and Design) and a number of research groups. The department also hosts Malmö Research Centre for Imagining and Co-Creating Futures (ICF). The department offers doctoral education in two subject areas: Interaction Design and Media and Communication Studies.
