We are looking for
One or more Research Assistant to support the areas of Interaction Design for the Faculty of Culture and Communication (KS).

Work duties
The job consists in realising different activities within the RIECS-Concept project whether activity planning, literature analysis, hosting workshops, participating in project calls, handling minutes of meetings, co-authoring deliverables and academic papers, ordering materials, email to study participants, arranging and participating in travels to events, etc. In summary any of the tasks available within the project mentioned.

The work is typically scheduled during office hours, with the potential exception of having to conduct a workshop with a study-participant group that cannot take the time within that timeframe. As this is one or more position/s offered to master students and recent graduates, they are only available on a percent basis.

Qualifications
Specific requirements for this position:

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in design, psychology, sociology, computer science or related fields.
  • You are currently studying for a master’s degree in Interaction Design.
  • You have documented experience in conducting workshops online and on site.
  • You have documented experience in conducting qualitative interviews.
  • You have very good proficiency in English.

The following would be of benefit for the position:

  • You have previous experience working with research projects.
  • You have experience within Interaction Design in data collection and annotation, whether through video ethnography, journals, or any other techniques.
  • You have experience in information visualisation, affinity mapping, and feature extraction.

In addition to formal competence, University employees must possess the personal capacities necessary to perform the duties of the position well and to represent the University in the best possible way.

Faculty, Department and Research environment
The School of Arts and Communication (K3) and the Faculty of Technology and Society (TS) are currently involved in the RIECS-Concept (grant 101188210) European research project. The goal of this project is to design (conceptualise, evaluate, and propose) a future digital platform for the realisation of Citizen Science projects of excellence. Malmö University is coordinating one of the work packages within the mentioned project as well as is the main contributor to a series of tasks and deliverables. Our main goal consists in approaching one of the stakeholder groups within the project to perform interviews and workshops to gain knowledge that will inspire the design. Later on, we will work with the testing of initial ideas, speculative scenarios and the like to end with the creation of a design guidelines document. The RIECS-Concept project is due December 2027.

This project is part of the Full Stack Laboratory initiative, a cross disciplinary space for researchers and students to meet in the fields of design, engineering, innovation, and social participation. The Full Stack Laboratory is an initiative of the School of Arts and Communication (K3) and the group for Computer Science and Media Technology (DVMT).

Miscellaneous
