The Faculty of Machine Construction prepares specialists whose competencies allow solving the problems raised by the design, operation and management of systems in the field of machine building. The competencies of the graduates of this faculty allow the development of manufacturing technologies, the design and operation of manufacturing, transfer and handling equipment, the operation of control and automation systems and the management of production systems.

With the transformation of the Polytechnic Institute of Cluj-Napoca into the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, the old Mechanical Engineering Faculty was divided into three distinct faculties with a mechanical profile: the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Mechanics and the Faculty of Materials and Environmental Engineering.
