    Duties:

  • Manage all geoscience-related commercial and physical risks involved in Transport and Installation (T&I) contracts for offshore windfarm development projects.
  • Manage geophysical survey operations and survey contractor deliverables according to Ørsted specifications acquired with multi-beam echo sounders, sound velocity profiles, side scan sonars, and parametric/chirp sub-bottom profiles.
  • Provide expertise to installation packages by applying knowledge of existing survey data and ground conditions to installation contracts.
  • Provide written assessment and input scoring into the placement of principal T&I contracts through formal procurement workflows.
  • Standardize geodetic parameters and survey methodologies to ensure that all spatial data and metadata is in accordance with company requirements.
  • Act as the quality gatekeeper for all installation survey data into the project for acceptance of as-built documentation.
  • Provide technical assessments and support (including rebuttal of claims) relating to geoscience matters by installation contractors.
  • Maximize the value of geophysical data through proactive engagement with both engineering and regulatory stakeholders to ensure full utilization of data across multiple disciplines and users.
  • Ensure that the data foundation for design meets company requirements to allow for construction-related activities and certification(s) by professional engineers and accreditation bodies.
  • Play an active role in the support and development of U.S. Unexploded Ordnance (UXO)/Munitions of Concern inspection/mitigation requirements by engaging with regulatory stakeholders and applying industry knowledge.
  • Support the Installation and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) phases by conducting seabed investigations and delivering information on risk registers below and above the seafloor.
  • Deliver the key transfer document from Construction to O&M phases.
  • Requires up to 20% domestic and international travel.

    Requirements:

  • Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in geophysics, geology, oceanography, or related field; plus 2 years of experience as a geophysicist or in offshore surveys.
  • Requires 2 years of experience with collection, processing, interpretation, and analysis of high-resolution sub-bottom profilers, side-scan sonars, multi-beam bathymetric systems, and GNSS GPS systems; as well as methods and equipment used in the offshore installation of cables, foundations, and scour protection.
  • Also requires knowledge of Global Mapper, SonarWiz, Oasis Montaj, ISE2, Eiva Suite, GIS, IHS Kingdom Suite, Radex Pro, SeiSee, Aconex, and Azure; as well as the UXO mitigation process, including ALARP, avoidance, EOD, emergent finds, certification, MWS, and COA procedures.
  • Requires valid BOSIET/OPITO or FOET certificate.
