For our customer, EUMETSAT, we are looking for future colleagues with experience in system administration, software deployment, continuous integration, and continuous development to help deploying, maintaining and evolving our customer’s DevOps infrastructure.
We are searching for skilled and motivated DevOps engineers who are able to work autonomously with minimal supervision representing Terma’s values in front of our customer.
The typical tasks would include:
- High and low-level management of the current DevOps platform, suggesting improvements and deploying new systems and services.
- Designing and implementing complex CI pipeline structures across various projects utilizing GitLab.
- Supporting the SW development teams with diverse levels of CI adoption on the journey of homogeneous CI utilization across EUMETSAT.
- Coordination of activities involving other internal EUMETSAT departments (ICT, Network, Security, etc.).
- Basic administration and troubleshooting of Linux systems (RHEL and SLES based virtual machines and containers).
Your Profile:
The ideal candidates have an academic degree in IT, Computer Science or equivalent and possess the following skills:
Overall mandatory skills:
• In-depth knowledge in the development of DevOps Pipelines for Continuous Integration and Delivery
• Hands-on experience Container Ecosystems (image registry, building container images, deploying, and running in Docker and/or Kubernetes)
• Solid understanding of software development life cycle, and design patterns
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (Bash and Python as minimum)
• Good understanding and usage of API to interconnect and automate systems
• Experience using the following tools or equivalent: GitLab, Maven, Jenkins, Harbor, Nexus; Ansible, Terraform
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies like Scrum or Kanban, including experience with agile project management tools like Trello, Jira, or Asana
In addition, candidates should possess mandatory skills from one of the following two skills groups. Having skills from both groups is not required, but considered an advantage:
Mandatory skills – Group 1:
• Good knowledge and practical experience in GNU/Linux system administration with multiple distributions.
• Familiarity with GitOPS concept
• Hands-on experience in building and automating the environments setup via Hybrid Infrastructure
• Experience implementing monitoring of DevOPS pipelines
• Knowledge of IT security best-practices.
Mandatory skills – Group 2:
• Defining and establishing configuration management process for incremental software delivery and release
• Experience in setting up and configuring test frameworks, test automation (GUIs & APIs), particularly web-based testing frameworks
• Experience in test automation using scripting languages
• Experience of integration and testing of software installations
The following desired skills are considered an additional advantage for all candidates:
Desired skills:
• Knowledge in all engineering lifecycle activities (e.g. requirements definition, design, development, integration, verification, and validation)
• Hands-on experience in automating the deployment of virtual infrastructure (e.g. virtual machines) and their configuration
• Experience in integrating CI-CD pipelines with corporate tools (e.g. Serena Dimensions, JIRA and Confluence)
• Familiarity with AI/ML with practical implementation of algorithms and ML environments will be advantageous
Fluency in English (spoken and written) is mandatory, as English is the working language. This is a hybrid position where you will be working up to 3 days/week at home and the rest at Terma's location in Darmstadt (a city of 160K population, 30km south of Frankfurt am Main) Germany.
The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills together with the ability to effectively cooperate within the team.
