Data Scientist for supply chain simulations
Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN A/S
Are you in the initial stage of your career aspiring to take the next exciting step in the direction of your growth? A step that allows you to use your interest in supply chain and logistics in a real-life setting while expanding your already great analytical skills. All of this in an international environment with an advanced data-driven approach.
Then join us in NORDEN and contribute to setting the course of data in shipping.
We are looking for a Data Scientist to join the Quantitative Analytics team at our office in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Our Quantitative Analytics team is a small, specialised team now expanding our services to support NORDEN´s logistics department with simulations of transshipment projects.
What’s in it for you
In NORDEN, we are becoming increasingly data-driven in our decision-making. As Data Scientist, you will play a central role in this strategic and highly prioritised approach to shipping in one of the world’s leading shipping companies.
With NORDEN’s role as one of the biggest market participants we play a vital role in the worldwide supply chain by enabling the efficient and reliable transport of bulk commodities like oil, coal, grain, and metals across oceans. Through our extensive fleet and strategic partnerships, NORDEN supports international trade and facilitates the flow of raw materials, critical for industries and economies worldwide.
You will create simulations for a wide range of logistics projects and use actual performance data to improve the results. We work with a modern tech-stack including, but not limited to, Python, Prefect, Docker and cloud solutions from Azure.
You will learn proven techniques from experienced industry colleagues while providing your ideas in an open and inclusive environment where teamwork, innovation and personal development is high on the agenda.
The tasks that await you
To be more specific your responsibilities will include to:
- Design and implement sophisticated agent-based simulations that support optimisation and decision-making across transshipment projects.
- Leverage actual performance data to enhance results.
- Continually improve existing systems and processes, recommending and implementing technical changes where needed.
- Work with non-technical stakeholders to derive and implement technical solutions to business challenges.
- Contribute to enhancing financial outcomes and profitability of operations.
- Actively be a participant in operating teams and identifying real time initiatives to deploy analytical methods where you see they would be useful.
- Stay up to date on the latest techniques in data science.
Your competences and core qualifications
We are looking for a colleague who is curious and wants to expand their knowledge in a global and innovative environment. You are interested in shipping, logistics, supply chain or similar areas and are motivated by optimising the same.
Further, to thrive in this position, you:
- Have 0-5 years of working experience.
- Hold a major in Supply Chain Management and Logistics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or similar.
- Are experienced in Python and have some familiarity with R and SQL.
- Have great English skills.
- Are eligible to work in Denmark.
You also hold an interest in simulations and have either experience building agent-based simulations or would like to advance your skills within this field.
Application
Please upload your English written application, resume, transcript and other relevant documents through our website as soon as possible and no later than 4 December 2024.
NORDEN values diversity in thought, educational background, and professional competencies and therefore encourages all qualified candidates to apply for the position.
