Product Assurance Manager

Ambitious Space Company is looking for a Product Assurance Manager

As Product Assurance Manager in GomSpace you are involved throughout the lifecycle of our products and satellites, from conception and design, through manufacturing and testing – and until post-production support has been completed. You are a key player in ensuring quality, improvement, and learning. You are the anchorman in leading compliance procedures according to standards applied in the space industry and you will be working with the advanced electronics, mechanics, and software that GomSpace is developing for our solutions. The Team & The Activities

You will join the team in our Programs Business Unit and you will be responsible for product assurance in projects at a time that typically spans over the course of 1 to 2,5 years. You will be involved in the projects from start in sales, into project execution to delivery of the projects to our customers. Depending on the scope and complexity of the project, 5-30 colleagues typically are engaged in the project activities. You will work as an integrated team member and will be involved in disciplines like systems engineering and software engineers, assembly and integration specialists, mechanical and electrical engineers, manufacturing, radio engineers and satellite operations.

With you joining as our next Product Assurance Manager we will have two persons running the product assurance activities in the Programs Business Unit. Product assurance effort and processes in GomSpace are coordinated with the Product Assurance Manager in our second business unit – the Products Business Unit.

You will work in project teams contributing to the product assurance and quality assurance of the project activities.

  • Quality Management: You establish and enforce quality standards, processes, and procedures throughout the product development lifecycle. This includes defining metrics to measure product quality and ensuring that these metrics are consistently met.
  • Regulatory Compliance: You stay abreast of relevant regulations and standards applicable to the industry or market where the product will be sold. You ensure that the product complies with all necessary regulatory requirements and certifications.
  • Risk Management: You identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in the product design, manufacturing processes, or supply chain, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks. This may involve conducting risk assessments and implementing corrective actions as needed.

Supplier Management: You work closely with suppliers and vendors to ensure that the components and materials used in the product meet quality standards. This includes establishing quality agreements, conducting supplier audits, and managing supplier performance.
Key responsibilities include

Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • PA requirement analysis and implementation in the projects based on customer requirements and GomSpace Quality Management System.
  • PA reporting to customers and management.
    • Examples: Audits, Critical items, non-conformances, alerts, reviews, procurements, Radiation, EEE, dependability, FME(C)A.
  • Project milestones targets are met from a content and quality point of view.

Main tasks

During you daily work your main tasks as product assurance manager will include, but are not limited to:

  • Define and lead Product Assurance / Quality Assurance activities in the projects with the customers’ needs and GomSpace Management System as main drivers for the PA/QA requirements.
  • Write the project PA plans and support in writing the project management plan.
  • Execute the plans during the project life cycle, this includes:
    • Preparation of milestone data packages - both internal and external milestones.
    • Reporting on PA/QA topics using the defined metrics - internally and externally.
    • Processing of non-conformances, Request for Deviation/Request for Waiver.
    • Conduct and drive the Non-Conformance process.
      • Define corrective actions and implement.
      • Interface with customers.
  • Support projects
    • Risk management and actions.
    • Documentation and data control, QA, and configuration.
    • Lower-level suppliers QA and PA requirement implementation.
    • Requirement verification, including handling of deviations.
      • Design (analysis)
      • Manufacturing test
  • Update and improve GomSpace Management System.
    • Lessons learned.
    • Implementation of corrective actions.

Participate in ISO and customer Audits.

Requirements

You have several years of experience with product assurance, preferable from new space projects.

  • Knowledge of product assurance for space applications including materials and processes, electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical components, radiational test campaigns and radiation hardness assurance.
  • Experience with assessing the reliability of hardware-software interaction.
  • Dedicated experience with product assurance for software development is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of ECSS Q-standards, including compliance and tailoring practices.
  • Knowledge in analysis: FMEA - including worst case analysis, single-event effects analysis, parts stress analysis, effects, and criticality analysis.
  • Clear communication skills in presenting product assurance and quality system.

Through constant contact with customers, you must be able to evolve in an environment where prioritizing requests is essential and crucial to progress.

You must thrive in an environment where you work on missions with a delivery time between 6 months and 2-3 years.

Spoken and written English is mandatory.

Any other languages are a plus.
