Aerospace Freight Forwarding Agent

Position Summary

The Freight Forwarding Agent will be the liaison between the assigned customers and BWS. Our main source of customers are aviation companies and vendors to the airlines. The Logistics Freight Forwarding Agent will handle all customer requirements from beginning to end of the shipment handling process and will work in close cooperation and coordination with the different operational departments (Air, Ocean, and Warehouse) for both imports and exports.

Please note that this role is on-site in Hialeah, Florida. 

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Obtain all the information necessary to create the best quotes for the shipments: weight, dimensions, commodity, destination, from, to and if the cargo is hazardous or general
  • Quick turn around for any requests from clients, frequent follow up with the customers and provide updates
  • The ability to work under pressure and stress professionally
  • Understand AOG situations and ensure shipments are prepared correctly for delivery on time
  • Solution and detailed orientated
  • Ensure all the units are properly secured and transported and photo taken (Aircraft engines, APUs, TRs, Inlet Cowls, empty engine stands etc)
  • Capable to work out of hours and during the weekend when needed
  • Create operational file and request for booking to Operational Department in timely manner
  • Obtain competitive rates for better file profit
  • Prepare documentation to meet the shipping lines and airlines requirements and final destination
  • Offer Cargo Insurance
  • Arrange for Pick-up and delivery
  • Arrange special services for time critical shipments
  • Coordinate in advance with the Warehouse
  • Send Pre-alert to customer and agent
  • Follow up on shipment until arrival at Destination
  • Bill files within 5 days of Departure date and close file
  • Schedule to take closed files to the filing room on a weekly basis for admin to file
  • Ensure all customers have Credit Application and POA on file
  • Inform customers of all rates involved in handling cargo
  • Create trust with the customers, business connections, and colleagues
  • Stay informed on competitors and market news
  • Maintain professional atmosphere and communication internally and externally
  • Assist team members as needed

 

Position Requirements

  • 4+ years freight forwarding experience in import and export
  • Understanding of International/overseas multimodal shipping and transportation
  • Understanding of domestic, air and ocean equipment types
  • Knowledge of Dangerous goods regulations and packaging requirements
  • Have the knowledge of economic sales key figures and can work with budgets
  • Ability to maintain a high level of communication and transparency on customer activities
  • Ability to take team members’ suggestions to improve departmental procedures
  • Growth mindset and strong problem-solving skills 
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to effectively communicate with customers and meet their needs
  • Capable of adjusting your communication style to respectfully communicate with different types of personalities – towards customers, business connections, employees and colleagues
  • Spanish preferred
