Job Description

Betadwarf is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer who will be responsible for the architecture and execution of everything cloud-related to enable the making of our most ambitious project: codenamed Project F4E - a Hardcore Fantasy Extraction ARPG game. You will work in a small close-knit team (the Systems Pod) of 5 highly experienced engineers, you being one of them.

Ideally you are highly driven, self-motivated and not afraid to express your opinions or come with suggestions for improvements. You must be ready to take responsibility and identify areas that could benefit from your talents. We want you to make your mark on our world and our team, and join a collaborative effort to raise the quality of the entire experience we deliver to our players.

Responsibilities

• Cloud can support at least 50.000 concurrent users.
• Automatic scaling using Kubernetes to limit hands on requirements.
• Automatic deployment through TeamCity to shorten iteration time (we like everything automated) and democratize the game's cloud.
• Services should be robust so they can withstand or gracefully handle, among other things, third party services like Steam, XboxLive and Twitch being down and even bumps in GCP performance.
• Support both stateless and stateful services that can handle functionality like matchmaking, chat, lobby, rich presence, inventory, guilds, purchasing, community events, quests, ranking and seasons, leaderboards and much more.
  
• Setup system wide monitoring, define on call processes and make it as smooth as possible to react to issues like using feature flags to achieve no to minimal downtime.
• Support the team to analyze player behaviour and iterate the game's design based on it.
• Cloud solutions should be built to support future titles where possible.
  

Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience.
• Experience with Google Cloud Console (GCP).
• Experience architecting all facets of highly available systems that utilize load balancing and horizontal scaling using Kubernetes.
• Experience using a quantitative approach (modeling, iterative prototyping, analysis, tools) to architect and develop robust, secure and high performing cloud services that meet demanding developer and end user experience goals.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Hands on programming skills for full stack services development (e.g. C# including unsafe code, ASP.NET Core and Sql and NoSql DB’s).

Pluses

• Experience working with Unity3D.
• Experience working in JIRA.
• Experience with all development cycles of GaaS games.
• Track record of influencing cross-functional architects and high performance teams to define architecture.
• Exposure to Agile development methodologies.
