Clio Online is Denmark's largest digital educational publishing house. We make 100% digital learning materials. Our company started as an idea. An idea of revolutionizing teaching one subject at a time. Today, we have 130 committed colleagues who all love to work with digital innovation and development.

Our tech department is made up of 61 frontend and backend developers, POs, UXers etc. of many different nationalities located in Denmark and Ukraine. They work with agile development across seven development teams, and our agile pipeline is prioritized into initiatives, epics and stories across the seven teams.

Our editorial and digital production departments are also international, with editors, media graphic designers, proofreaders, uploaders etc. located in both Denmark and Sweden. Our aim of being the best didactical and technical service for making kids smarter is well taken care of by these departments along with the rest of our amazing colleagues.

Digital Production

The digital production department consists of four teams, two of which work with visual content production and development: a film team and an illustration team.

Clio's film team consists of six employees – four in Copenhagen and two in Stockholm – who share their creative spaces with the international illustration team of eight illustrators and animators. They work on individual projects on a daily basis, but they use each other across borders for inspiration, support and development of new skills. They aim to make two versions of each product (Danish and Swedish) and to ensure that our products are easily adaptable to future markets.

In addition to their everyday production, they are currently investigating possible new formats such as 360° video and interactive films. The purpose is to determine whether Clio can benefit from its employees building skills in these areas, and to investigate how to use new formats in our storytelling to better fulfill Clio's vision of making kids smarter.

The digital production department collaborates with many different teams in Clio, especially the editors, tech developers and UX experts.

The AR/VR Project

We are very interested in exploring how the use of augmented and virtual reality can contribute to our way of facilitating the core elements of each subject. We have materials for all subjects in the Danish and Swedish school systems, and our products are currently being used by more than 90% of Danish elementary schools, so we have a pretty good reach across our core user base, the students. This has resulted in a highly co-creative development process, in which we make use of our devoted test classes in all new development and iterate upon the results of these tests. And one thing we hear a lot from teachers and students alike is that they want more variety in the way we use the various functionalities and modalities of our platform.

In using AR, we are especially interested in developing modular blocks of AR tools that can be used with different types of content, with the aim of adding additional functionality to our platform and introducing new modalities to our multimodal content. We would like students to be active participants and producers of AR content rather than passive receivers of premade AR narratives.
