Production Engineer - Fiber Manufacturing - Denmark

You will develop and optimize manufacturing and characterization processes in Fiber Manufacturing within all areas such as glass processing, fiber drawing and characterization. This includes areas of cleaning and processing of glass items for construction of pre-forms for fiber drawing, drawing of glass elements and fibers, as well as measuring and testing to qualify bare fiber and cable products.

It’s an exciting, inspiring place to work where we encourage both personal and career development. To support our plans, we are now looking for a talented Production Engineer to join our growing Fiber Manufacturing team.

The Role

  • Provide direct support to the Production teams. It is essential that you thrive working as part of production. Hands-on is essential for the success of the role.
  • Optimize production processes and identify production failures, then track and report on corrective actions to ensure the root cause is identified and resolved.
  • Lead on processes to improve yields and provide KPIs.
  • Develop new processing methods and develop new measurement set-ups. Work with and improve documentation of production processes (instructions, QA documents).
  • Contribute to R&D projects and collaborate with other departments.
  • There will be some occasional travel to other NKT Photonics sites within Europe.

The Individual

  • Relevant experience of production engineering within an industrial mechatronics manufacturing environment. Specific experience of optical fibers would be ideal but is not required.
  • A relevant qualification in Engineering and a working knowledge of Best-Practice manufacturing.
  • Well-developed analytical abilities; able to question complex information, identify root-cause and effects and deliver inspiring technical insights whilst displaying an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Good communication skills; able to influence and work at all levels with cross functional engineering teams. A high level of fluency in the English language is required. Danish language skills for day to day communication with the Production teams is also required.
