Key Account Manager - Germany

You will manage and strengthen the relationships with our biggest accounts across Europe

You will build and nurture long term key customer relationships - by understanding their requirements; identifying their needs and promoting our products and solutions to achieve mutual satisfaction. Internally, you will work with our Engineering, Production and Customer Service teams (and others) to ensure we deliver the our products on time and achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.

The goal is to contribute to sustaining and growing our business to achieve long-term success. To do this will involve extensive one to one interaction with key decision makers and therefore requires a person with a very high level of interpersonal, negotiation and presentation abilities.

It’s an exciting, inspiring place to work where we encourage both personal and career development. To support our plans, we are now looking for a talented Key Account Manager to join our growing team based in Germany.

The Role

  • Manage established Key Accounts to deliver high levels of customer satisfaction and grow long term profitable business relationships.
  • Achieve sales targets for allocated accounts; ensuring a balance of sustainable volume growth, optimal returns as well as identifying opportunities for further growth and lead generation.
  • Ensure that our Key Accounts are fully aware of our product range, new technology developments and initiatives.
  • Deliver executive-level presentations to customers that provide them with solutions.
  • Liaise with our internal product line managers and technical teams to understanding our Key Accounts’ needs and facilitate technical support to Key Accounts when required.
  • Develop Key Account management plans for each customer.
  • Support manufacturing and product line management with market, application and customer related information and ensure the CRM system is fully updated.
  • Participate proactively in tradeshows and conferences and in the global Sales meetings.
  • Travel to customers as well as other NKT Photonics offices throughout Europe.

The Individual

  • Proven, relevant experience of delivering exception levels of Sales or Key Account management, in a photonics or laser manufacturing environment that delivers to the academic community or Industry is essential.
  • Hands-on experience of lasers within a Materials Science, Life Sciences, Quantum Technology or Ultrafast environment is required, as is a relevant qualification in Physics, Optics or similar.
  • Outstanding influencing and negotiation skills; able to work collaboratively with a diverse audience to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes at all levels.
  • Inspirational communicator: able to listen, build strong business relationships and present passionately and authentically at a senior level. Fluency in English - verbally and written – is essential.
