Senior Market Segment Manager (Scientific) - Denmark or USA

You will increase our penetration into the Scientific and Academic market for Ultrafast Lasers. Your experience will enable us to identify key academic customers who pioneer within Ultrafast Lasers; build and establish repeat business and growth by identifying OEM companies that service this segment and assist the sales force in expanding Ultrafast Lasers penetration within existing and new fields.

Armed with this knowledge, you will deliver a clear vision of how our position sits within the academic segment. This will involve the creation of application specific product specifications, sales notes and specific marketing materials to ensure a good penetration of the segment. You will travel to meet customers, attend key exhibitions and conferences, as well as interact closely with our global sales force to ensure revenue growth. It is expected you will provide recommendations on augmenting or altering our product portfolio to facilitate growth in the Scientific market.

It’s an exciting, inspiring place to work where we encourage both personal and career development. To support our plans, we are now looking for a talented Senior Market Segment Manager to join our growing team - based in Denmark or the USA.

The Role

  • Achieve growth targets within the Scientific and Academic segments and ensure increasing product profitability.
  • Establish a product pricing strategy within the business segment.
  • Drive the market understanding and development of our Ultrafast Lasers within the Scientific and Academic segments.
  • Identify the competition and continuously monitor their products and position in the market.
  • Optimize our product portfolio to fuel growth; submit business proposals for new or existing portfolio development.
  • Provide clear and concise materials showing our competitive advantages through product presentations, sales and technical notes promoting a targeted selling process for specific material processing applications.
  • Guide, support and train the global sales force to: penetrate the key players: understand our key product USPs within the various Scientific and Academic segments and how to optimise and develop new opportunities.
  • Regularly meet key customers and develop strong mutually beneficial relationships. Participate in relevant exhibitions/conferences.
  • Deliver strategic briefings to the Ultrafast team on the competitive landscape within the segment.
  • There will be some travel to other NKT Photonics offices and customers – 30/40%.

The Individual

  • Extensive experience working in sales or market development - specifically within the Scientific and Academic segments - where the delivery of target achievement is crucial. A relevant Engineering qualification (ideally laser related) and an exceptional level of commercial awareness are expected.
  • Working knowledge of fundamental Ultrafast Laser technologies and their applications wthin the Scientific and Academic segments.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and executives and well as the ability to collaborate across internal teams located globally is essential.
  • Demonstrable competence in the areas of partnership development, strategic thinking and driving deals to completion.
  • Solid negotiating skills; highly developed written and verbal communication ability in English, as well as excellent business and financial acumen.
