Do you want to help link global struggles and facilitate cross-country learning in a complex, ambitious and innovating organization? Are you a strong project manager with a passion for youth-led programs? Are you a natural motivator and organizer? Then this position is for you!

ActionAid Denmark is part of ActionAid International, a global federation working in 45 countries guided by the shared global strategy ‘Action for Global Justice’. The strategy is rooting us deeply where we work, and with the people and social movements whose rights and visions we work to achieve.

One of the key ambitions is to develop a global youth network focused on engaging, connecting and building the capacity of program practitioners, activists and allies to support a new type of youth-led activism. You can be a part of making this a reality.
As the “Youth Community Lead” you will help create linkage between local youth activists’ groups and national country programs and facilitate cross-country learning for young activists, their organizations and movements.

As the Youth Community Lead you will:
Facilitate the co-creation of a vibrant (online) community of practice/interest around a shared purpose. This entails working with various stakeholders across the ActionAid federation such as; local activists, national youth program practitioners, members of the ActionAid Global Secretariat and ActionAid Denmark colleagues from various teams.

The work can be defined as ‘entrepreneurial project management’ where different needs are to be balanced when implementing, developing and ensuring progress in this relatively new initiative, combining ActionAid’s Global Strategy, thematic priorities, and our various youth-led initiatives.

Confidently and diplomatically ensure progress for the initiative by;

  • Leading the global project group with members based in Bangladesh and Denmark and focus on project management, including budgets, reporting, documenting plans and facilitating project meetings.
  • Coordinating with the global Steering Committee and ActionAid’s Youth Working Group to ensure shared direction across several countries and stakeholders.
  • Follow progress closely and respectfully re-evaluating concepts and plans, acting as problem-solver and an innovator.
  • Supporting, motivating and facilitating ActionAid youth program practitioners in strengthening youth work in their national contexts.

You will contribute to strengthening our youth-led programs by supporting and sparring with practitioners to collect and communicate experiences and knowledge of the work, both externally and internally. You will work mainly online;

  • Hosting and innovating an inspiring (online) community for ActionAid youth practitioners.
  • Coordinate and/or facilitate motivating, relevant and educational webinars.
  • Coordinate and participate in regional and global face2face convenings.
  • Reach out to external strategic partners for collaboration and linkage.

The job requires that you have:

  • Experience working with youth-led programs with a Human Rights Based Approach.
  • Solid experience as a project manager driving progress in complex settings, both structurally and geographically. Experience working internationally and on-location.
  • Knowledge of political organizing, advocacy campaigning and feminism.
  • A fair amount of diplomacy and the ability to find compromise among stakeholders.
  • A relevant higher education.

We offer you:
An 8-year fixed-term appointment based in Denmark with flexible working hours, so that a healthy balance between private- family- and work-life is possible.

A comprehensive compensation package where salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the agreement between ActionAid Denmark and Danish labor unions. An obligatory pension scheme is a part of the package, as well as salary supplements for fixed-terms and managers. Different terms and conditions could apply if the position would be based outside of Denmark.

A shared organic and vegetarian lunch arrangement.

A broad, professional network of passionate, international colleagues.

A young, informal and dynamic working environment characterized by a modern management culture and cooperation across the organization.

You will become part of AADK’s Youth Organizing and Activism team; a solid team of dedicated professionals and activists, who are consistently working on creating change. The team is a global support team with employees based in 8 different countries.
