Summary:

The purpose of the US Product Development & Generalist Procurement Manager role is to 1) Support development strategy and categories at a local level 2) Plan and execute the sourcing process for all relevant central activities; 3) Execute and adhere to Group Procurement strategy, policy, systems, processes; 4) Liaise with the relevant Global Category Managers 5) Identify local initiatives to support local stakeholders.

The Product Development & Generalist Procurement Senior Manager is the single point of contact for the US Development organization. The associate is responsible for promoting procurement methodologies through category execution and local strategic sourcing activities to ensure the acquisition of high quality goods and services at fair market value by negotiation and managing of contracts and scopes of work for selected suppliers. The Procurement Senior Manager will also ensure efficiency in harmonizing local Procurement activity with Global Procurement

Responsibilities:

Sourcing activities:

  • Engage as a single point of contact with users to define purchasing needs.
  • For sourcing activities, manage the purchasing project (objectives, resources, timelines, specifications, supplier selection criteria) and deal with Ferring Sourcing Process (RFI, RFQ, negotiation, contracting).
  • Engage with all internal stakeholders and ensure alignment.
  • Participate in audits and in the selection of suppliers.

Contract Management:

  • Negotiate and finalize contracts , assigned project (leveraging global deals or by putting in place new agreements)
  • Ensure sign-off of contracts in a timely manner
  • Anticipate termination date and proactively manage renewals

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Execute on the supplier rationalization activities
  • Manage risk with identified suppliers
  • Proactively work with suppliers to strengthen business relations (reduce lead-times, improve overall supply chain performance, and reduce costs).
  • Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators for suppliers collaboratively with stakeholders
  • Interaction with internal customers to identify purchasing & business opportunities.
  • Gather information related to the current supply markets.
  • Constructive feedback given to global procurement about local market trends.
  • Local best practices are shared with category managers.
  • Vendor performance management : improvement of costs and customer service level
  • Select local vendors subject to Vendor Management process and execute it
  • Support global vendor management implementation at site(s) level

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5-7 years experience in purchasing/contracting management
  • Knowledgeable and working experience in LEAN solutions
  • Candidate must have an overall working knowledge of the Procure to Pay channels and an agility to work in several categories of investment at once – including broad knowledge of outsourced Chemistry Manufacturing and Control (CMC) work packages, laboratory services, instrument/equipment services, laboratory consumables, and capital projects supporting CMC labs.
  • Must possess experience in the drug development process with emphasis on CMC (Chemical Manufacturing Control) contributions using outsourcing models
  • Ability to represent Ferring's interests to outside professionals and suppliers; must understand US supplier base in CMC activities; ROW knowledge a plus
  • Must have knowledge and experience from a procurement perspective in drug substance , drug product development (concept to commercialization) and experience in procuring CRO (Contract Research Organization), CDMO (Contract Development Manufacturing Organization) and CMO (Contract Manufacturing Organization) services
  • Analytical and negotiation skills
  • Decision making ability to purchase goods or services in alignment with the objectives of the supported entities and global category strategy
  • Comprehensive understanding of purchasing processes and knowledge of best practices for sourcing, supplier management and procure-to-pay
  • Experience in dealing with R&D stakeholders
  • Team player and team work oriented
