150105 Associate Professor of Proteomics Technology Development & Application (Fixed-term 5-years)

Københavns Universitet (KU)

Ph.d. & forskning

Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research
Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences
University of Copenhagen

The University seeks to appoint an Associate Professor of Proteomics Technology Development & Application (fixed term 5 years) to the Nielsen Group, Proteomics Program, Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR) to commence as soon as possible.

Information on the Department can be found at: https://www.cpr.ku.dk

CPR promotes basic and applied discovery research on human proteins with medical relevance. The Center is a strong hub for research on genome stability maintenance and human disease, comprising modern laboratories and state-of-the-art facilities within protein science.

Nielsen group at CPR
We offer a vibrant, ambitious and international research environment, as well as access to cutting-edge facilities within protein science, including state-of-the-art proteomics and microscopy platforms. The main focus of the Nielsen Group is to establish novel proteomics methods for large-scale characterization of obscure post-translational modifications (PTMs). The work paves the way for a better understanding of the complex nature of mammalian signaling events.

Proteins engage in a wide array of molecular events, in which the ability to discriminate between functional and non-functional interactions is crucial. Although the cellular ‘modificome’ is highly complex, only a small subset of the estimated 200 possible types of post-translational modifications (PTMs) is currently amenable for analysis on a global scale. The Nielsen group develops leading proteomics methodologies for systems-wide characterizing of obscure post-translational modifications, to uncover aspects, which have so far remained unknown.
