At The Department of Food Science at Aarhus University, there is a position as research assistant available.

The Position
The position as research assistant will primarily be affiliated to the Research Group of Food Quality, Perception and Society at the Department of Food Science, Aarhus University (http://food.au.dk/en/foodresearch/science-teams/food-quality-perception-society/). The focal area for the position will be different tasks about food quality and food waste related to the governmental policy support. The work will comprise development of study designs, conducting experimental work, data analysis and elaboration of reports for the Danish ministries. The work will be done on an individual basis or in a team with staff that also work with policy support.

The candidate
You are expected to hold a master degree in food science or have a related education. Moreover, we expect that you have documented experience in planning and conducting scientific experimental studies. You have experience in conducting data analysis using different statistical programs. Furthermore, it is important that you have excellent qualification in writing Danish and English since the reports will be written in either Danish or English. Since the company langue primarily is English we also expect that you have excellent spoken English skills.

Employment and place of work
The working hours are 37 hours per week. The position is temporary and will end December 31st 2020. The employer is Aarhus University. The place of work is Department of Food Science, Agro Food Park 48, 8200 Aarhus N.

Application procedure
Short-listing is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.

Formalities and salary range
Science and Technology refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
