Hourly-paid members of IT staff (preferably students) (PROSA) for research in macro, labour and family economics

Aarhus Universitet (AU)

Østjylland (Aarhus)

Researchers in Labour and Public Policy at the Department of Economics, Aarhus University are looking for hourly-paid member of IT staff (preferably students) to work on research using administrative registers. Tasks consist of assistance with data preparation of data delivered by Statistics Denmark as well as data description and statistical analyses for specific research projects. Tasks vary a lot and will typically require use of program packages such as SAS, Stata, Matlab, Python, Excel etc. Knowledge about these tools beforehand is an advantage but it is not required in order to apply for these jobs. There are 2-3 positions available.

The research group is situated at the intersection of labor and macroeconomics. It investigates links between output, employment, wages, and wage inequality at the macro level and worker and firm heterogeneity at the micro level. The investigation of these links focuses on but is not limited to the role of labor market institutions (e.g. unemployment insurance), the household (e.g. marriage/divorce), and firms. Methodologically, important aspects of this research are the robust estimation of firm and labor productivity as well as the development and structural estimation of search and matching models using Danish register data.

We expect applicants to have a strong quantitative background. We prefer applicants currently in the 3rd to 5th semester of their BSc in Economics and Management, Mathematics-Economics or Public Policy. However, if your qualifications are extremely good you may also apply at an earlier stage. We expect that you have a critical mind and that you are capable of working independently.

Expected working hours vary but will be on average 12 hours per week. The number of hours are planned with the researchers in charge of the projects and may be adjusted downwards or upwards during exam periods or holiday seasons. Researchers in charge of the projects are teams combining Danes and English speaking colleagues.

Employment starts as agreed between the researcher in charge and the applicant.
Job interviews will take place in early January.
