Postdoc in Energy System Operation and Real-Time Co-Simulation

The Department of Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) invites applications for a 2-year Postdoc position within the Center for Electric Power and Energy (CEE). The Center conduct cutting edge research which is crucial for society – not only in Denmark but worldwide.

The Postdoc position is financed by Horizon 2020 projects under the Energy System Management group.

Responsibilities and tasks
We seek an ambitious person that can contribute to the research in analysis of intelligent power systems using co-simulation and real time tools and tools for assessing flexibility and integration of complex buildings in the management of the power system.

The main responsibilities and tasks of the position are:

  • Real-time co-simulation for power systems, hardware in the loop simulation with real-time digital simulators (RTDS).
  • Developing a smart energy system analysis, design and operation tool for complex buildings.
  • Supervision of postgraduate students.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Significant experiences with RTDS simulation, hardware test and data analysis.
  • Experience in analysis and modelling of flexibility of complex buildings
  • Experience with experimental work in lab and in the field
  • A strong commitment to research.
  • Enthusiasm for working with research students.
  • Independence and good communication skills.

The position offers an opportunity to work with international, dynamic and multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Relevance of background experience.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and good communication skills.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The position is expected to start on 15 January 2020. The period of the position is for 24 months.
