The Hearing Systems Section at the Department of Health Technology at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) invites applicants for a 2-year PostDoc position within the project UHEAL: Uncovering Hidden Hearing Loss. The UHEAL project is a cross-disciplinary collaboration between DTU Hearing Systems, the Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance (DRCMR, Copenhagen University Hospital, DK), and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Institute (MEEI, Harvard Medical School, USA). In this research project, we focus on understanding inner ear synaptopathy by combining cellular physiology and MR imaging with electrophysiology and clinical audiology. The goal of this postdoc position is to help identify behavioral and physiological measures of synaptopathy in human patients.

Responsibilities and tasks
You will be part of the DTU Hearing Research group and will have the opportunity to work with a highly international and cross-disciplinary research team. Within the UHEAL project, you will be mainly responsible for running psychoacoustic and electrophysiological studies in younger and older humans. Depending on qualifications, you may also work on auditory computational modelling. You may be involved in co-supervision of PhD & MSc students at DTU in relation to the project area as well as other areas of hearing research.

Qualifications
We are seeking highly motivated candidates holding a PhD degree in hearing science, physiology, audiology, neuroscience, or another field related to hearing science. Applicants should have a strong documented background in hearing research, including psychoacoustics and auditory electrophysiology. The candidate needs to have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work in an interdisciplinary team. The ideal candidate has knowledge of cochlear synaptopathy in animal and/or human models. Applicants should be well-versed in scientific programming, statistics, experimental design, and auditory signal processing.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The place of employment will be at DTU Lyngby Campus for a period of 2 years.
