Partner Technical Architect Modern Workplace

The Partner Technical Architect (PTA) Modern Workplace role is key to Microsoft's partner engagement strategy as part of the One Commercial Partner Organization (OCP) in Western Europe. The goal is to assess, enable and build partner’s technical capability, lead technical activities for building solutions, and support pre-sales for customer engagement applications.

The PTA should possess deep solution and technical expertise to be able to lead technical activities and drive high priority initiatives aligned to the Microsoft Partner Journey Maps in collaboration with Microsoft teams and the partner. The role will need to develop required solutions and build partner technical capacity by working with the managed partner portfolio through the Build-With lifecycle, from recruit to grow, aligned to partner segment. The PTA will own the technical engagement including envisioning briefings, technical briefings, business architecture, solution architecture, architectural design reviews, proof of concept, and manage specific implementation programs with corresponding Proofs of Concept plans.

The focus of the role evidences Microsoft’s deep commitment to the partner ecosystem to build a mutually beneficial technical and practice development relationship by working closely with partner technical leadership. The PTA represents Microsoft to the channel, communicates our tech strategy, sells our vision, and brings partners along in the digital transformation journey. The outcome will be to drive long-term revenue, accelerate cloud consumption and digital transformation through a set of practices leading to workload/industry-based co-sell.

The Partner Technical Architect (PTA) will drive practice-based partner technical capabilities in collaboration with the PTS. This is a partner facing role that is accountable for developing and support practices in both existing and newly recruited partners.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assess the partner technical capabilities and support PTSs on designing a custom learning path based on the identified gaps. Plan testing environments and review existing operational and delivery technical model.
  • Deliver deep level technical workshops, executing on the defined learning path and developing technical aspects of key scenarios defined in the technology roadmap. Enable and teach the partner in performing and delivering Architecture Design Session (ADS). Provide guidance for completing competency/qualifications technical requirements.
  • Enable the partner via envisioning and technical briefings to identify technology opportunities that enable and/or support the creation of differentiated offers in the market.
  • Enable the partner in creating/adapting SOW for the offers, defining the delivery/operational models and including adoption services and activities.
  • Enable the partner to be successful during pre-sales activities which includes delivery of Proof of Concepts (POC), Pilots, Prototypes, Demos and technical blockers and objections removal.
  • Enable the partner to discover ways to automating solution to reduce costs and create repeatability, while documenting processes for knowledge retention and IP, and supporting the co-sell of these solutions through Microsoft’s digital marketplace.
  • Collaborate with engineering on building partner-led IP for vertical industries and regional localization solutions built on top of the Teams platform.

The candidate should have 10+ years of technical industry customer-facing or partner-facing experience and 5+ years of experience in Collaboration. He or she should have deep experience on Collaboration, Meetings, Meeting Rooms, Calling and/or Custom Solutions Development.

  • SharePoint – Architecture design & life-cycle management, Document / Content / Knowledge Management, Document / Content Governance and life-cycle control, Identity / Access Management & Authentication, Information management, auditing and reporting.
  • Power Platform – Basics of PowerApps, Flow, & Power BI.
  • OneDrive for Business - Management, auditing Firstline Worker Solutions.
  • Migrations – To SharePoint, OneDrive, & Teams.
  • Office 365 Groups - Creation and Management.
  • Yammer – Positioning in the collaboration solution, integration with Teams.
  • Stream - management, integration with Teams and SharePoint.

Meetings and Calling (Optional)

  • Media troubleshooting, Rooms configuration, integration, and deployment (SFB on premises, SFBO, Teams, EXO, Exchange on premises).
  • Call quality. Phone systems, Direct routing, Coexistence and interoperability, Knowledge of voice and data platforms (TDM PBX & IP-PBX, Video MCU) and networks (PSTN, Wireless, IP). Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, switches, routers, firewalls and protocols (SRTP/RTCP, H.323, H.263/H.264, SIP). Voice applications including Voice Call Control, Audio/Video/Web Conferencing and Devices Call Data Records. Voice/Fax and Unified Messaging. Contact Centers (ACD, IVR, CRM). Application Integration Services (TAPI, TSAPI, JTAPI, CSTA). Team Working (Boss/Admin). Call Queues (Hunt Groups) and Auto Attendants.
  • Devices and device management.
  • Live Events.

Additionally, the following skills are of key importance:

  • Coding skills (C#, JavaScript, Node.js) & Visual Studio.
  • Adoption and change management.
  • Cloud and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Broad experience with Office 365 and Enterprise Mobility + Security applications & services, Windows 10, and Surface.
  • Competitive product knowledge (i.e. Slack, Zoom, Cisco).
  • Knowledge of Office 365 data lifecycle management solutions for collaboration content (including Compliance Manager, Basic knowledge of Data Loss Protection, Azure Information Protection, Advanced Data Governance, Advanced eDiscovery).
  • Advanced knowledge of identity, authentication, security, privacy, and compliance (including the EU General Data Protection Regulation).
  • Deep understanding of cloud computing, business drivers, and emerging computing trends and their impact on customer opportunities.
  • Experience in vertical industries, proven by projects implemented with substantial business processes covering finance management, supply chain, manufacturing areas.
  • Understand how to leverage technology solutions for supporting business goals, providing guidance on supported and not supported technical scenarios. Capability to design and implement practice-based architectures or equivalent competitive experience.
  • Extensive experience in evolving in virtual teams across functions and geographies:
    • Inclusive and collaborative – driving teamwork and cross-team alignment
    • Strong partner relationship management and solution development skills
  • Strong evangelist presence including communication and presentation skills with a high degree of comfort to large and small audiences.
  • Problem solving mentality leveraging internal and/or external resources, conflict resolution, and follow through with partners.
  • Technical BS degree or Equivalent work experience

Language an Culture:

  • The PTA may cover a region or the complete Western Europe countries
  • The job will require frequent travel (50% +).
  • Fluent English, verbal and written, English communications skills are a must.
  • Being open and able to adapt to all the cultural richness of the Western Europe countries are key.
