Vattenfall is now looking for the right person to fill the position as Lead Engineer for Corrosion Protection reporting to the Manager of Material Technology and Corrosion Protection as part of the Foundations Engineering Department within Business Unit Offshore in BA Wind.

The purpose of the department is to serve as technical authority for steel and coating works and building the knowledge center for materials to be used in our offshore wind foundations. Your job:
As Lead Engineer for Corrosion Protection your main responsibility will be focused around coating works for foundations for specific projects and/or corrosion protection applications for a product developed for future projects but you will work together with our internal engineering team and thereby impact the overall development and philosophy of foundation fabrication. In addition you will engage with external inspectors for tasks handled within Vattenfall’s project organization.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Develop and improve Vattenfall’s specifications and standards for Corrosion Protection processes;
  • Assure integration of HSE and Quality requirements;
  • Ensure provision of technical assessments for Corrosion Protection works as input for design, construction and installation e.g. support of Non Conformities, Technical Queries, Variation Order Requests;
  • Coordination with internal and external stakeholders, incl. WTG suppliers, Installation and Manufacturing Contractors and Operations & Maintenance;
  • Identification of key areas of optimisation both site specific and on general level;
  • Evaluation and verification of new materials and products to be applied on foundations and turbines; such as ICCP, Anodes and different types of Coating materials;
  • Review foundation design with regards to corrosion protection;
  • Engage in the development of optimised future foundation structures;
  • Assess and improve the supplier relationship for the various ways of corrosion protection.

Your profile:
You are a chemical or mechanical engineer to the bone, but also has the ability to see things from the helicopter perspective and can advise and help based on your knowledge and knowhow. You have an innovative mind-set and can see yourself working in an environment where we value entrepreneurship, the pragmatic approach and helpfulness in our daily work. You can work self-dependent while sharing and seeking knowledge in the team. You show initiative and have a flexible approach to your work. You possess good interpersonal skills and can communicate technical messages on a clear and constructive way both internally and to external partners. You have an innovative mind-set working result-oriented and meet required deadlines. In addition, the following qualifications are important for this position:

  • B.Sc or M.Sc degree in chemistry or mechanical engineering or equivalent;
  • More than 7 years of experience within corrosion protection works;
  • Have experience with manufacturing of foundations for offshore wind farms as corrosion protection and/ or coating expert;
  • Experienced with norms and codes such as e.g. DNV, ISO, API and EC, Norsok;
  • Frosio level 3 preferred;
  • Quality Training based on Six Sigma, ISO Auditor or equivalent preferred;
  • You are fluent in English, both in speech and writing.

Office will be Hamburg, Kolding or Amsterdam but occasional travel within northern Europe should be expected.
