Vattenfall is one of Europe´s largest electricity generators and producer of heat and operates in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. Our strategy is to reduce emissions from power generation with a road map to archiving climate neutrality by 2050.

We are now looking for a candidate to our SCADA Project department, which is responsible for specification, design, installation and commissioning of wind farm automation system for both turbine and substation systems. Furthermore we control the integration into the overall Vattenfall Wind Power Data Center and operation center in cooperation with colleagues from the other SCADA departments.

The department is part of Power Studies, Control and SCADA Implementation within the Business Area (BA) Wind, Offshore, Engineering, Electrical Infrastructure & SCADA. The Engineering department is the technical know-how centre and home of technical competences within BA Wind, setting the standards and guidelines as well as being embedded within our projects to drive technical excellence through the whole project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
As Senior SCADA Project Engineer you will:

  • handling project-related technical communication with subcontractors during construction and ensure integration of data and remote access from centralized data center
  • definition and fulfilment of technical specification with focus on automation systems.
  • partly configuration of PLC, RTU and/or server for substation control systems
  • project and product -related activities required for automation system
  • prepare and participating in FAT, SAT commissioning and handover to O&M, including general follow-us
  • develop supply relations on SCADA components in cooperation with the procurement team an handle the deployment during project delivery
  • transfer technical content in commercial business cases and arrange decision making
  • supporting the operation team and management of wind farms with your specialist knowledge
  • cooperating with your colleagues in electrical engineering departments, the operation team and SCADA Project Managers who can be both internal and external engineers

Qualifications
You are educated in Electrical Engineering and have strong experience with automation and control systems from similar industry, preferably within the energy sector or wind industry with following qualifications:

  • Have a master degree in electrical engineering or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years work experience and your competences lie within a combination of substation control system, offshore automation system design and construction projects.
  • Knowledge about design, specification, configuration and test of control systems preferable within Siemens system as: WinCC OA, SIMATEC S7 and/or SICAM A8000.
  • Thorough knowledge about communication protocols for power system, automation and configuration of application using communication protocol, such as IEC 60870-5-101/104, IEC 61850, IEC61400-25 and OPC UA.
  • General knowledge within some of following: alarm handling, database system, server configuration in a virtualised environment, IT network, CCTV system.
  • Strong HSE culture, with a strong commitment to contribute to the development and delivery of inherently safer wind farm projects
  • Demonstrable leadership experience
  • Flexible approach to travel and working offshore.

As we operate in an international environment, it is essential that you speak and write English fluently. Moreover, you have strong communication skills and are able to communicate well with representatives from various professional groups, external business partners and colleagues.

Location
You may choose freely to be based in one of Vattenfall office in Denmark (Kolding), Germany (Hamburg), Netherland (Amsterdam). However, you must expect travel activities related to your work, as you will be working on different projects in Northern Europe and have colleagues placed at different locations.
