The position
Would you like to help make products and processes more durable and reliable?

We are currently looking for an application engineer for our team in Tucson, AZ. Our new application engineer will be responsible for helping customers with all aspects of reliability engineering and the use of ReliaSoft software. This includes providing engineering technical support during the pre- and post-sales process, presenting formal training courses on reliability, and providing engineering consulting services. This extends to the application of reliability and life data analysis (Weibull), accelerated life testing (ALT), failure mode effects analysis (FMEA), and reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM). This position is based in our Tucson, AZ office.

Primary responsibilities
You will help customers with all aspects of reliability engineering and the use of ReliaSoft software.

Your daily work includes:

Sales-oriented activities

  • Investigate and understand customers’ reliability analysis requirements.
  • Demonstrate ReliaSoft reliability engineering software to customers in pre-sales scenarios, highlighting solutions and benefits.
  • Answer technical questions that customers have about reliability and durability.
  • Provide technical responses to RFPs from existing and potential customers.

Support and service-oriented activities

  • Conduct training courses on reliability engineering concepts and software.
  • Provide consulting services for reliability analyses and predictions using reliability engineering concepts such as life data analysis, RAMS analysis, and repairable system analysis.
  • Provide post-sales technical support for ReliaSoft users via phone, email, and web.

General assistance activities

  • Provide feedback to HBM Prenscia product management on future software functionality.

These responsibilities will initially focus on ReliaSoft reliability analysis software products and will later expand into nCode durability analysis products and related concepts.

Professional qualifications

  • You must hold a Bachelor or Master’s degree in engineering (preferably reliability, mechanical, aerospace, or industrial), applied mathematics, statistics, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Further, you must have 1 year engineering experience.
  • Experience with ReliaSoft or nCode software is beneficial, but not required.
  • Expect to be out of the office at customer sites about 1/3 of the time. Travel will be predominantly domestic, with the possibility of international travel once per year.
  • Work visa sponsorship is NOT available.

  • Interest in working in a commercial environment with ability to travel a substantial portion of the time as dictated by business needs.
  • Self-motivated, self-directed, and possess strong organizational skills.
  • Face to face collaboration is key to what we do - telecommuting is not available in this role.
