General Summary
This position works under limited direction and is primarily responsible for the sale of culture and enzyme products with an assigned territory. Other responsibilities include providing customer service on related products and accounts as well as in field technical assistance. Whenever possible the Account Manager will promote and sell other business unit products, or work closely with the Account or Technical Services Manager from another business unit.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities (* = Essential Functions)

    • * Meets or exceeds sales budget targets on a year-to-year basis.
    • * Secures existing business from regular customers and finds new business from prospective customers.
    • * Negotiates contracts and other legal documents involving in-depth product, industry, pricing and competitive information.
    • * Formulates and recommends an in-depth account strategy for assigned territory based on customer needs and requirements and carries out as approved.
    • Maintains multi-level contacts with key customers; keeps them informed of price trends, new products and new uses in the development of sales.
    • Develops a margin improvement strategy at each of the defined accounts in conjunction with sales management.
    • Troubleshoot customer concerns and solves routine industry problems on-site (i.e. new products and uses, marketing efforts, new facilities, price trends). Informs management of any significant developments immediately.
    • Provides timely reports and information as required by management.
    • Utilizes key selling strategies and creates corporate selling strategy plans as needed
    • Possess good negotiation and follow-up skills.
    • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short and long range goals.
    • Must have technical skills to know the right questions to ask of customers.
    • Possess an understanding of dairy manufacture or cheese making or fermented milk production (plant based fermentation an added benefit)
    • Must be a self-starter with drive and initiative and work with little supervision.
    • Must have a passion for the food industry.
    • Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs as well as other .
    • Ability to travel up to 60 - 70% of working time.
    • These characteristics are normally acquired through a minimum of a Bachelors degree in a scientific field, food technology or chemistry, and a minimum of five years of sales experience.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

      Working Conditions
      Working environment is a home office setting about 30% of time and mostly air travel up to 70% of time (this could vary depending on requirements of the territory). This position requires a valid driver’s license and good driving record. The employee must be able to meet the travel requirements of the job.
