Head of Financial Controlling

Role overview
The position
We are currently looking for a Head of Financial Controlling for our Global Finance team, to be based in our HQ in Nærum, Denmark.

You will report to the Director Accounting & Financial Controlling and be part of the management team. You will join a company on a exciting journey and a finance function, where the focus is on integrating and developing the finance organization, upgrading our ERP system, and optimizing our processes.

You will manage a team of around 7-9 people, based in a variety of locations on a global scale. This is therefore an ideal position for an experienced people manager who is looking to use their skills to have a lasting impact on the culture and organizational structure of their next employer.

In order to support our vision and operational efficiency, you will be instrumental in our transformation to One Finance organisation with global reach, ensuring reliable and timely financial data and providing sound financial insight and advice to our internal and external partners, efficiently and effectively.

Primary responsibilities
You will be responsible for daily operations as well as driving continuous improvements. Furthermore, you are expected to be a valuable sparring partner for the Director Accounting & Financial Controlling.

The new Head of Financial Controlling will be tasked with bringing the organisation to the next level to support the strategy. This expectedly includes acquisitions across the globe, where you will take on an important role. A proactive role is envisioned, hence a hands-on approach is expected from the new Head of Financial Controlling, as well as building a solid team to support the journey.

Key tasks include:

  • Development and day-to day management of the Financial Controlling Team, including:
    • Assess, manage and develop own team.
    • Recruiting, succession planning and retention.
    • Coach and develop own team.
    • Develop team’s professional skills, business understanding and big picture thinking.
    • Maintain focus on increasing collaboration throughout the team and towards the rest of the organization, avoiding silo thinking
  • Developing, maintaining and implementing HBK policies and guidelines with high quality
  • Improvement of processes and gaining efficiencies
  • Monthly and annual accounts, incl. IFRS reporting to the Spectris Group
  • Local statutory reporting
  • Responsibilty for external audit, e.g. interim and year-end audit as well as local tax audit
  • Coordination of internal audits
  • Transfer pricing for HBK
  • Hedging activities for HBK
  • Merger and integration activities
  • Projects and stakeholder management
  • Support the ERP upgrade(s)
  • Business owner of the Group Chart of Account.

Professional qualifications
You hold a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Accounting. Further you have:

  • Min. 3-4 year documented leadership experience of a finance team, ideally in an international setting
  • Min. 5-7 years years of experience within financial controlling in a global context
  • Solid experience with IFRS
  • Fluency in English is a requirement
  • Experience with SAP is an advantage
  • Proven change management success and a natural affinity for contributing to the culture of the organization as a whole
  • Previous experience establishing structure and results in a dynamic working environment would be advantageous
  • Proven leadership skills: ability to appear assertive yet trustworthy, whilst delegating responsibility to the relevant team members, thus allowing them room for menoeuvre to explore their own initiative and empower the team to ensure continuous development and efficient completion of tasks.

Personal skills
As we are in merger process, we are looking for a Head of Financial Controlling, who is able to:

  • Prioritize. Assesses the importance of considerations, decisions and actions; analyses the most important issues first.
  • Live a critical sense. Does not take information at face value; considers and examines reliability of data; compiles information; able to comprehend inadequate data and information.
  • Analyse. Divides problems into relevant parts; differentiates between key areas and irrelevant and less important areas; has a logical mind-set; makes sensible decisions on the basis of available information; is able to get an overview of a specific situation and at the same time work detailed with a problem; uses details to gain an overview of a situation.
  • Adapt. Is not only able navigate themselves in a change environment and but also support the team in doing so.
  • Communicate. Strong communicator with the ability engage in meaningful dialogues across all levels throughout the organisation.
  • Travel internationally. Expected less than 30 days per year.
