Department of Computer Science is looking for two Post Docs in Analytics of Health Data from Wearables

Two post doc positions are available in the Ubiquitous Computing and Interaction group at the Department of Computer Science at Aarhus University.

The postdoc positions are coupled to two recent projects being awarded by Innovation Fund Denmark for working with health data. The projects are entitled HealthD360 and CoronaLytics, and they focus on collection and analysis of 24/7 health-data collected via smartphones, smartwatches, and special sensor devices. The aim is to develop combinations of machine learning and visual analytics methods to undertake both efficient and explainable analysis of 24/7 collected data to gain new insights for the development of personalised health solutions. The research should support development of methods to be further utilised by participating companies.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate should hold a PhD degree and have extensive expertise and research experience in data analytics including machine learning, deep learning, visual analytics, information visualization and experiences in combining these analysis methods to create explainable communication of analysis results.

We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in Python, Jupyter, Pandas/Dask, Sklearn, Fastai, and D3/Javacript. Experience in dealing with sensor data, signal analysis, time dependent data, tabular data, time series, images and health data standards would be an advantage. In addition, general skills within human computer interaction, ubiquitous computing, and context awareness would be an advantage.

The candidate should also be able to collaborate in an interdisciplinary team. Excellent communication skills in English, in both speech and writing, are a requirement.

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.

Formalities and salary range
Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
