The Job

As an Accounting Assistant you will be responsible for the daily accounts payable function from receiving to reconciling supplier’s invoices. Furthermore, the right candidate will be in charge of the timely preparation of tax returns and submission of reportorial requirements to the Bureau of Internal Revenue.

The Accounting Assistant will be part of General Accounting team consisting of five personnel and will be reporting to the General Accounting Manager. The right candidate will enjoy a role with the opportunity for vast cross functional involvement and get insight in the whole value chain of TORM.

As Accounting Assistant in TORM, your responsibilities include:

  • Reviews and processes all invoices – journalizes to proper general ledger accounts.
  • Ensures that the purchase orders, delivery receipts, sales invoices and official receipts are intact and properly filed.
  • Contacts vendors and keeps track of payments, so payments are made accurately and timely.
  • Prepares journal entries of all transactions such as but not limited to disbursements, receipts, accruals, prepayments, petty cash, deferrals and adjustments.
  • Completes month-end accounting activities such as depreciation, accruing of expenses, amortization of prepayments, invoicing of Management Fee.
  • Reconciles specific accounts such as, but not limited to, accruals - prepayments, revenue, taxes, and leases to ensure adequacy and accuracy of all financial data in form of a report to be used in financial analysis.
  • Files BIR reports such as withholding tax on compensation, creditable income taxes withheld, final income taxes withheld, fringe benefit tax, Value Added Tax (VAT) and withholding VAT.
  • Maintains schedules of monthly and quarterly creditable income taxes withheld, quarterly FBT, and monthly and quarterly VAT.
  • Accomplishes Alphalist data entry and Relief data entry and submits to BIR.
  • Submits list of regular suppliers of goods and/or services to BIR every semester.
  • Provide assistance during external and internal audit.
  • Maintains the books of accounts of TORM Philippines Foundation, Inc.

The Profile

The ideal candidate is a service-minded and analytical person with at least three to five years of relevant work experience of the same field. The right candidate holds relevant educational background in Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or its equivalent.

Furthermore you have/are:

  • Preferably a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Solid background in Accounts Payable and Tax Compliance function
  • Knowledge of ERP accounting system is required. Experience using Microsoft Dynamic Nav is plus
  • Experience using the e-filing/e-payment system (eFPS) and data entry module of BIR.
  • Excellent communication skills and can relate to different types of people in the organization
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
