Bioinformatics Data Specialist (Research consultant, AC TAP) in Groth group (CPR)

Københavns Universitet (KU)

We are looking for a highly experienced bioinformatician to develop and support big data analytics for a 3-year position.

Our research
The focus of the Groth group at Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR) is to elucidate how chromatin organization and function is propagated during mitotic cell division to maintain genome and epigenome stability. Our goal is to understand how these mechanisms that underpin epigenetic cell memory impact on cell fate decision in development, cellular reprogramming and epigenetic changes that are prolific in cancer. We take a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to break new grounds in this field. To this end we are applying innovative proteomic and genomic approaches in combination with cutting-edge cell biology, advanced high-content imaging, single molecule analysis of replicating DNA, biochemistry and structural biology.

Your job
You will join a multi-disciplinary research team working on how epigenetic information is transmitted in proliferating cells. In particular, the lab has developed a panel of genomic tools to interrogate the impact of DNA replication on the epigenome.

During the 3 years, your tasks will include designing and development of tailored analytic tools for epigenomic data sets for our ongoing externally funded projects on histone recycling and epigenome maintenance, engaging in the data analysis and supporting lab members. You are expected to tutor PhDs and Postdocs in the use of standard NGS pipelines. You will develop opportunities for combined analysis of epigenomic, proteomic and high-content imaging data sets.

Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic bioinformatician with the following competencies and experience:

Specific requirements:

  • A PhD in Life science or related
  • You have documented expertise in NGS data workflow and analysis of functional genomics data sets (e.g., ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, Hi-seq)
  • You have good knowledge in programming (e.g., fluency in Python, R etc.)
  • You have an active interest and background in chromatin biology, epigenomics or cancer genomics
  • Good organization and flexibility
  • Knowledge about recent technologies relevant for this job (e.g., ChOR-seq, SCAR-seq, repliATAC-seq or similar) is an advantage

You are also expected to have the following personal qualifications:

  • Good inter-personal communication skills
  • Excellent English skills, written and spoken

Place of employment
The place of employment is at Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR), University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and core facilities.

Terms of salary and employment
The employment as a research consultant (specialkonsulent/AC-TAP) is for 3 years. Starting date is 1 January 2021. Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be from dkr 41.454 with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
