Experienced Wind Farm Analyst (Bristol or Glasgow, UK)

K2 Management A/S

Experienced Wind Farm Analyst (Bristol or Glasgow, UK)

Join one of the most experienced and well-respected wind farm analysis teams in the industry.
K2 Management is a global, independent, and leading renewables consultancy. We require experienced wind farm analysts to join our dynamic and respected Analysis Services team working on projects world‑wide to facilitate the growth of renewable energy.

We are looking for experienced analysts to join our Pre-construction and Operational Wind Farm Analysis teams in Bristol or Glasgow, UK.

About the job:
We are looking for people with experience of pre-construction and/or operational wind farm analysis within a consultancy, developer, operator or manufacturer to join our team. Available opportunities are flexible, including team and project management, business development and more dedicated technical roles. Being a small and agile team allows us to consider an individuals’ strengths, experience and areas of interest; enabling some tailoring of roles to suit individuals.

Whilst provision of industry leading financial-grade energy yield assessments is our typical deliverable, we believe that high‑quality wind farm analysis can contribute significantly to project value, and good analysis-related technical advisory can really lead to the development and operation of better wind farms.

We regard wind farm analysis as an ever-developing science and strive to offer the most accurate assessments of wind resource and energy yield possible. We utilize the most up to date technologies and software available and develop many methods and tools in house, including our high-resolution CFD model and data analysis software. Our industry-leading research into WTG performance and offshore energy yield validation give us strong confidence in our methods, but we are always looking to the future to meet new challenges such as larger wind turbines, complex wind climates, and complex turbine and wind farm control algorithms.

The K2 Management Analysis Services team is made up of over 30 individuals, with over 300 combined years of renewables analysis experience. These analysts are based in Europe, North America, Asia and Australasia, with the technical team headquartered in the UK. We are much more than an analysis team providing independent energy yield assessments. Many of our staff have over 10 years experience in wind analysis and have previously worked at a number of leading wind energy consultancies, wind farm developers and operators, and turbine manufacturers. This wide-ranging experience allows us to provide practical and focussed analysis advice throughout the development cycle, with the aim of optimizing energy yield, reducing associated uncertainty and thereby maximizing project value.

Job description:
Our Analysis Services team is divided into two wind analysis sub-teams:

  • Pre-construction – our pre-construction wind analysis team predicts the expected future energy yield of proposed wind farms on behalf of project developers, financers, or potential investors. In addition, the team also supports project developers throughout the development phase, providing ongoing technical advisory, including feasibilities studies, optimized wind farm layout design, noise modelling and the specification of wind data measurement campaigns.
  • Operational – the operational wind analysis team supports wind farm operators, financers, and potential investors of operational wind farms by assessing an asset’s historical performance, identifying opportunities for improvements and re-forecasting long-term energy yield predictions.

The sub-teams work closely together to ensure that we offer the highest quality service to our clients and the lessons learned from analysis of operational wind farms are applied to our pre-construction predictions. We also work closely with our Solar analysis team, with a number of staff working in both wind and solar disciplines.

We also work closely with K2 Management’s Due Diligence team, supporting on a wide range of tasks including lenders technical advisory and acquisition due diligence; we recently provided the bankable energy yield assessment for the world’s biggest wind farm, SSE’s Dogger Bank offshore wind farm, as part of a Lenders Technical Advisor role.
