Join us as our new Senior Immunologist or Biologist, Product Safety, Bagsværd
As a safety scientist, you will be responsible for providing safety guidance to Novozymes’ pipeline projects and for safety support to strategic customers globally. You will be a part of the head quarter-based Application Safety department and collaborate with dedicated colleagues worldwide.

Your job will include assessment of new product applications within industrial enzymes to ensure safety in handling and use for workers at Novozymes’ industrial customer facilities and for end users. You will furthermore be providing expert advice regarding respiratory allergy and skin sensitization to internal and external stakeholders and responsible for supplying representative test material for allergy test programs in close collaboration with Novozymes’ medical staff and Occupational Health & Safety. Part of the job includes industrial hygiene support to global customers to guide in safe handling regarding enzyme products, conduct air sampling and evaluation of analytical data. In the specific position you will be responsible for coordinating external production of polyclonal antibodies for immunochemical assays.

Being a part of Application Safety scientist team, you will be collaboration with the scientists and lab technicians in the department scheduling and supervising daily work tasks within protein chemical and immunochemical analyses. Balancing development project tasks and customer activities is something you can manage and that gives you energy.

Welcome to Product Safety, Research and Development
In Product Safety, a total of three departments (~40 people) share the global responsibility for the safety of all of Novozymes’ products across industries. The Application Safety department is specialized in sensitive immunochemical analyses of enzyme samples, which are among other things used to quantify air-borne enzymes using ELISA and innovative lateral flow techniques (Magnetic Immuno Chromatographic Technology) where antibodies are essential.

In this role you’ll make an impact by:

  • Providing safety guidance and assessments to development projects and customers
  • Managing and optimizing antibody production for test programs (SPT, CAP-test etc.)
  • Being the go-to person regarding respiratory allergy and skin sensitization elicited by protein antigens and collaborate with medical staff

To succeed you must:

  • Hold a MSc and perhaps a PhD in human biology, immunology, biochemistry or similar
  • Have interest in and experience with antibody production
  • Have knowledge of and experience within Type 1 allergy
  • Have documented experience/strong basis in assay development, immunochemistry and protein chemistry
  • Work with protein quantification techniques, e.g. SDS-PAGE and LabChip, immunochemical techniques for quantification and visualization of antigen-antibody recognition, e.g. ELISA, MICT, Western blotting, Ouchterlony and Mancini
  • Have experience from occupational health and safety processes in industrial settings e.g. as a consultant
  • Be a team player, and have excellent communication and flair for cross cultural collaboration skills
  • Focus on high quality in own work, structured and systematic
  • Be flexible and enjoy a global environment collaborating with many different cultures

Location: This job will be located at Bagsværd, Copenhagen and 10-20 travel days annually can be expected.
