Core Responsibilities
In this 1-year temporary position as Junior Mechanical Engineer, it will be your core responsibility to develop technical solutions for complex new functions and elements according to function and design specifications, requirements from LEGO standards, product safety, production platforms, etc. More specifically, you will:
• Participate in the explorative phase identifying the best technical solution to a play need
• Verify performance and functional properties of technical solutions
• Document and qualify these solutions in our 3D CAD system
• Ensure a successful handover to the NED (Novelty Element Development) internal and external teams

Play your part in our team succeeding
You will join the Novelty Element Development FrontEnd team consisting of 14 creative and dedicated colleagues with engineering backgrounds. The team explores, qualifies and validates technical solutions for new innovative LEGO elements and functions in close collaboration with Product Designers, Mould Designer and Process Experts in the initial stages of the development phase.

Initial development is characterized with changes during the execution, and therefore agility is a keyword. The main objective is to create exciting new LEGO elements in the fastest possible way and ensure minimum risk in the later execution of the novelty project

Do you have what it takes?
The ideal candidate is newly graduated and has as a minimum a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Integrated Design, Industrial Design, Manufacturing and Robust Design or equivalent. In addition, you have:
• Experience with design in 3D CAD systems, preferably Siemens NX
• Experience with product development
• Knowledge about injection moulding and plastic materials is an advantage
• Ability to navigate from an open task brief and identify the right solution through exploration
• Strong in ideation (open minded and creative)
• Thorough, detail-oriented and structured work approach
• Great collaboration skills and being a team player
