Who You'll Work With
You will be based in our Copenhagen or Stockholm office as a part of McKinsey Digital & Analytics (DnA) team to lead the staffing and professional development of our Design Experts across the Nordics.

McKinsey Digital & Analytics (“DnA”) is the global home to nearly 5,000 of the world’s most talented professionals across the fields of digital, analytics, and design. As part of DnA, McKinsey Design work with clients to design Change That Matters by spotting opportunities in unmet customer needs, co-creating breakthrough products and services, and making organizations more innovative and agile.

What You'll Do
In addition to leading staffing, you will co-lead and coordinate people activities and people initiatives related to the Design community within the Nordic locations (e.g., community building, onboarding, local trainings etc.). The role may also include 1-2 regional project-related responsibilities as part of the larger DnA EU or local office professional development (PD) team.

You will act as the go-to person to find the study that best fits their interests or development paths. For partners, you will be the trusted advisor to guide them on the Design profiles/skills that are the best fit for their studies and help them compose the team accordingly. To achieve this, you will connect and collaborate closely with local leadership, Design conveners and the broader DnA EU PD community.

You will develop and staff consultants. You will take end-to-end ownership of the Professional Development and staffing of consultants for design in the Nordics. You’ll ensure consultants are appropriately staffed to teams and provide guidance on staffing, monitor each consultant's development, career progression, and other topics as they arise, provide consultants with formal and informal feedback related to their staffing and evaluations, and work closely with evaluators and digital leaders to ensure that consultants receive timely and required development opportunities, while reflecting needs in client service.

You will build a strong, trust-based relationship with consultants including an in-depth understanding of professional aspirations, experience, strengths, development needs, and relevant personal skills. You’ll deepen expertise and understanding around skills sets to appropriately guide and support the consultants in the journey and staffing.

You will help colleagues navigate expert staffing. You’ll acquire and continuously refresh a sound understanding of the industry’s/sector’s key clients, hot topics, and firm expertise/staffing pools that are relevant to bring the best of Design (and DnA) to a given study. You’ll support engagement directors in considering, identifying, and accessing the right staffing pools.

You will manage local onboarding process and integration, oversee robust onboarding and integration, including learning after joining, build connection with offerees early in the process, and help them connect within the office and other communities.

You will provide counsel on training. You’ll work closely with the learning team, to ensure consultants receive timely and appropriate training, and participate in review of overall training agenda.

You will coordinate evaluation and feedback by working closely with the wider DnA PD team across Europe to coordinate the consultants' review and evaluation processes, e.g., get involved in upward feedback processes, support feedback conversations, and provide coaching on implementation.

You will facilitate exit processes. You’ll provide a sensitive and appropriate mix of care and counseling for the individual, along with disciplined monitoring You’ll facilitate a link to our career coaching/outplacement expert and work closely with respective managing partners and evaluators to offer proactive help and ensure a smooth transition.

You will report and manage the information flow in the required systems, coordinate Per Diem updates, evaluator assignment and input of performance rating. You’ll master people systems to ensure the information flows correctly and work closely with finance.

You will support broader office initiatives in concert with office leadership such as working on a variety of strategic and operational people initiatives as they arise. This includes support regular analyses of arising issues and trends (e.g. attrition, utilization, sponsorship/mentorship), own and drive PD projects as they arise, and work and assume responsibility on a variety of ad hoc as well as special projects surfaced by the office leader, PD leaders and other key stakeholders.


  • Undergraduate degree
  • Strong interest in professional development and people topics
  • Understanding of the roles of a designer is preferred or excitement to learn
  • Experience working with technical practitioners and/or start-ups a strong plus
  • Proactive self-starter. Approachable, enthusiastic with a can-do attitude
  • Ability to adhere to the highest standards including integrity, maturity and fairness
  • Good project management skills to lead and structure thinking, ability to multitask, and track record of strong leadership and entrepreneurship
  • Strong analytical skills, and proficiency in excel and power point
  • Fluent in English
