Senior Landscape Architect/Project Manager
BIG is looking for a Senior Landscape Architect to join our NYC office. The Senior Landscape Architect will work closely with the Partners, Project Leadership, and the global BIG L team to drive the vision for the future of BIG Landscape.
BIG is a group of 700+ architects, engineers, urbanists, and business minds from all over the world, based in our Copenhagen, New York, London, Shenzhen, and Barcelona offices. Our global team of 40+ Landscape Architects is part of an integrated design process from the beginning of our projects to their implementation. Our collaborative design process addresses the complexity of each project, responding to its unique culture, climate, landscape, and location. BIG L’s designs are living organisms that are made to adapt over time —spaces that are grown rather than built. BIG L works across a number of typologies including, Planning, Urban Design, Infrastructure, Resilience Strategies, Public Realm and Civic Spaces, Courtyards and Gardens, and Design of Outdoor Elements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Technical development and management of landscape and urban design projects
- Production and coordination of drawing sets, signing and sealing, QA/QC
- Managing and mentoring the BIG-L team in NYC
- Balancing design intent, costs, and technical feasibility in close collaboration with design leadership
- Reporting to the Landscape Partner and Partner(s)-in-Charge
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- License in Landscape Architecture in the State of New York
- Minimum 8 years of experience as a Landscape Architect on built and published references
- Experience with client management and project coordination
- Strong conceptual and design skills
- Experience with technical detailing, writing specifications, preparing contract documents, and construction administration
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino, and Adobe Suite (Revit is preferred)
- Experience in an array of typologies (public, private, master planning) and technical realms (resiliency, large and small scale)
- Experience in material selection and construction detailing
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English (spoken and written)
- US citizenship or work permit is preferred.

Compensation for this role is based on relevant experience, but in the range of $90,000 - $125,000.
