The biotech platform is the backbone for working in Novozymes. The company aims to ensuring a safe and thriving working environment while at the same time supporting efficient work processes from laboratory to final product shipment. Corporate OHS department is anchored in the Corporate Quality, Environment and Safety function with the task to ensure governance systems for OHS management in general and specifically for industrial safety when working with Novozymes microorganisms and biotech molecules. We are seeking to expand our team within the expertise areas for exposure assessment and workplace air monitoring capabilities to be able to support future growth of the company in a safe way for all Zymers.

We are a dynamic group of 7 in a new Corporate (strategical) OHS Team, who work closely together with our three Regional Teams to realize Novozymes’ strategy in the area of Health and Safety. To do that we collaborate with our colleagues networking globally to take advantage of our combined Subject Matter Expertise knowledge in OHS. Your capacity is needed in this setting, understanding the balance between local and global, making a difference for prevention and workers safety, driving projects and networking within your Subject Matter Expert area and contributing to our Corporate agenda.
In this role you’ll make an impact by:
- Providing expertise to maintain and develop already existing safety program activities including compliance based on Occupational Health and Safety management systems and procedures
- Assessing impact of exposures to prevent health impact – on a practical level as well as a strategic level. A special key competence is experience in workplace air monitoring
- Being a part of developing or updating safety programs for Novozymes’ expanding product range
- Mastering communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Communicating your knowledge scaled to the situation, e.g. giving advice to a department or providing strategic level input to the organization or developing training materials
- Working in project groups sometimes as the Project Manager
- Taking Subject Matter Expert responsibility for internal networks with Safety peers
- Contributing to an atmosphere where prevention is taken seriously
Potentially relevant experience:
MSc or BSc in engineering or Occupational/Industrial Hygiene OR alternative educational background, preferably working in a Industrial Hygiene Specialist role, OR WITH experience described as follows…
- Advanced knowledge of Occupational/Industrial Health and Safety management, exposure assessment, workplace design and hierarchy of control preferably from the biotech or food processing industries
- Professional Safety/Health (or Environmental) educational background would be highly preferable
- Working knowledge of technical principles, the interpretations of, practices and procedures used to comply with Industrial Hygiene related regulations and standards
- Experience working with ISO 45001, ISO 9001 or similar safety management systems
- Experience of occupational monitoring of microorganisms, organic matter including particulate matters, and chemicals
- Expert knowledge of occupational hazards and risk management practices
- Ability to engage, communicate and positively influence others across the entire workforce
- Strong informal leadership and organizational skills are required
- Excellent language and computer skills are required – English spoken and written fluently and preferably Danish and/or Chinese, Portuguese or Spanish
- You must thrive creating results in a dynamic team with a global agenda
- You must be passionate about OHS and have a holistic view on problem solving
- You need the ability to handle ambiguity and be a creative problem solver
- Travel is sometimes necessary to fulfill the tasks related to the job
