Responsibilities and challenges
DHI is seeking a motivated and dedicated mid-senior level metocean and port modeller with a strong background in coastal engineering and/or coastal sciences, to execute ports and coastal projects. The main responsibilities and challenges in the job are:

  • Provide coastal engineering leadership and management for India and international port and terminal projects with a team of DHI metocean engineers, numerical modellers and scientists.
  • Manage complex and technically challenging projects that are multidisciplinary in nature.
  • Preparation of technical documentation, reports and presentation materials.
  • Provide mentorship and technical training to junior staff.
  • Preparation of technical proposals for existing and/or new DHI clients and accounts.
  • Follow and implement Project Management best practice
  • Liaise with DHI clients to foster existing and new relationships for the DHI ports and terminals business unit.
  • Be able to travel for business development and to project sites for project purpose, whenever required

Accountabilities

  • Exhibit great professionalism, and teamwork towards performance excellence while maintaining DHI’s world class reputation
  • Accountable to project team leader or project manager for performance of project activities
  • Accountable to Department Head for overall quality and timeliness of activities

Skills and Qualifications

  • MSc., M.Tech or PhD in Coastal/Offshore engineering, Meteorology, Oceanography, or related science areas
  • Minimum 10 years’ of relevant work experience with strong educational background
  • Strong mathematical modelling and metocean data background
  • Knowledge of specialized software for navigation and mooring simulations
  • Experience in the maritime industry (e.g., ship operations, port management)
  • Exposure to data collection and field measurements related to oceanographic and meteorological conditions
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Skill with MIKE software, MATLAB or Python programming will be considered advantageous

Office Location

  • You will be placed in our office located in Chennai, India. You will also be working remotely from our offices located in Malaysia and Australia up to one month per year.
