Responsibilities and Challenges
DHI is seeking a motivated and dedicated graduate metocean engineer with a strong educational background in coastal engineering and/or coastal sciences; to learn and practice various skill sets for supporting projects, majority includes scientific and engineering analyses and numerical modelling as a supporting tool. The main responsibilities and challenges in the job are:

  • Key tasks in the initial stage include data collection and processing, numerical modelling, engineering and scientific analyses, and report writing (where English proficiency needs to be excellent)
  • Undertakes the technical work as part of a project team or alone
  • Assisting, executing, and managing projects
  • Work closely and effectively with project teams while contributing to project deliverables
  • Whenever suitable and required, involve in technical proposal writing
  • Be able to travel with project teams to project sites for project purpose, whenever required
  • Perform quality-control checks on model input and results
  • Develop statistical and graphical (static and animations) comparisons of model results and data
  • Participate in project meetings, proposal preparation, report writing and presentations
  • Progressively responsible for supporting and conducting project management

Accountabilities

  • Exhibit great professionalism, learning attitude, and teamwork towards performance excellence while maintaining DHI’s world class reputation
  • Accountable to project team leader or project manager for performance of project activities
  • Accountable to Department Head for overall quality and timeliness of activities

Skills and Qualifications

  • Expected to learn and practice various skill sets for supporting projects, majority includes scientific and engineering analyses and numerical modelling as a supporting tool.
  • To become an expert user in one or more relevant DHI MIKE software products.
  • Need to take his/her own initiative to learn and master knowledge in related engineering aspects.
  • MSc., M.Tech in Coastal/Offshore engineering, Meteorology, Oceanography, or related science areas
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Skill in MATLAB or Python will be considered advantageous

Office Location

  • You will be placed in our office located in Chennai, India. You will also be working remotely from our offices located in Malaysia and Australia up to one month per year.
